Job Summary
To manage and sustain a portfolio of Chinese businesses, building long-term relationships founded on efficient and reliable support for their business. This is achieved particularly through quick risk decisions and managing consistency and quality of operational service.
The primary objective is to maximise sustainable risk-adjusted portfolio contribution.
The jobholder will additionally be responsible for business development both with new customers and with the existing portfolio.
Job Description
Accountability: Client Engagement/ Client Centricity Time split %: 60/65 The Candidate will:
- Be a trusted advisor to Mandarin speaking clients optimising banking outcomes.
- Target prospective Mandarin speaking clients and acquire new business that fits the Absa value proposition
- Retain existing key client relationships and further cross sell opportunities within this client set.
- Working alongside Product Partners to ensure delivery of complex product solutions
- Manage active transactions by working with deal teams to ensure objectives are met and the offering is of a high quality
- Adhere to Pricing Policies and drive origination structuring and implementation of transactions with the assistance of product partners.
- Remain abreast of Global and Local trends and translate these into Customer-focused strategies
- Contribute to the strategic and financial objectives, while maintaining standards
- Maximization of value to clients, develop new, and maintain existing client relationships to establish a strong client network
- Research, create and follow up on a target list for potential new business opportunities.
- Selling solutions using a diagnostic approach and by using an in-depth understanding of client needs and/ or industry to form a holistic view of the client’s business, e.g. credit reviews, submitting tenders and participating in Request for Proposals (RFP) Accountability: Collaboration & Teamwork Time split: 25/30% The Candidate will:
- Support, mentor and develop team members and focus on own development
- Share best practice and engagement of team members when dealing with Mandarin speaking clients
- Ability to develop and manage relationships at a senior level
- Create client value through creation of strategic and detailed mandarin client plans
- Identify priority customers using the Customer Prioritization Guidelines to assess their present and potential contribution. Accountability: Risk Management Time split: 5/10% The Candidate will:
- Operate in accordance with Absa’s Risk Appetite and Lending Procedures
- Take ownership of high-quality Credit applications and ensure robust, continuous monitoring and control
- Ensure adherence of Absa-wide compliance and risk policy procedures
- Ensure transparency and open dialogue between credit and the client by communicating the clients’ requirements and giving feedback on the banks position regarding these requirements
Technical Skills / Competencies
- Ability to relate and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledgeable in risk management issues
- Professionalism & Ability to work in teams
- Product knowledge
- Demonstrated ability in both written and spoken communication
- Demonstrated ability in sales and negotiations & Good knowledge in credit procedures, monitoring and financial analysis
Educational Background & Work Experience
- Basic requirements – A degree holder
- A minimum of 3 years work experience in a similar role would be an added advantage
- Must be fluent in English and Mandarin
Education
Bachelors Degree and Professional Qualifications: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
