Job Description
Job Summary:
• Manage strategic, operational, and compliance risk exposures (internal or external) and ensure that existing internal policies, processes and procedures are effective in general and specifically in relation to compliance with laws and regulations across the MTN footprint.
• Implement the internal control framework and policy. Review and assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and propose improvements.
Job Role
• Work with all business units to ensure effective development and management of local PPPs (policies, processes, and procedures) and drive the adoption or localization of Group policies. Identify relevant controls from PPPs and ensure implementation. Monitor compliance with PPPs and regulatory requirements
• Update the company related components of the PPP universe that will be used as the base for development, enhancement, monitoring and oversight of policies and procedures
• Analyse regulatory trends and their impact on company PPPs and ensure that the business is informed accordingly in order to proactively update internal policies and procedures for changes
• Stay abreast of all relevant compliance and regulatory requirements within the telecommunication Industry and stay current on evolving trends in internal control guidance and practice.
• Review policies and procedures according to new rules and regulations and work with business units to effect necessary changes
• Act as a subject matter expert for issues related to all PPPs as well as internal controls and provide training and guidance to employees on internal control procedures.
• Drive continuous improvement on standardization of PPPs across MTN along with business units (who are the owners) leading to an improved internal control environment
• Monitor compliance to PPPs through the introduction and execution of an effective compliance program
• Facilitate audits of PPPs including liaison with internal and external auditors
• Act as a link between third line assurance functions such as internal audit and relevant first line functions to ensure that ensure internal controls are embedded in business processes.
• Manage the Privacy & Data Protection processes, practices and privacy of, access to, subscriber information in compliance with laws, telecoms regulations and the organization’s information privacy practices.
• Implement the MTN Ghana internal control framework across the organization and drive continuous improvement in operational processes and internal control design.
• Monitor the financial performance of company Policies and Procedures unit versus budgets and ensure all activities are carried out in line with the approved guidelines while promptly reporting on any variances to the SM, Compliance
• Oversee the control self-assessment (CSA) process, ensuring that it is completed timely and that remedial plans for controls are identified, documented, and implemented.
• Carry out control testing to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, document the work carried out, and propose improvements for control gaps identified.
• Document the outcomes of all control monitoring and testing activities and provide periodic reports to Management and the Board. Develop and maintain clear and concise risk and control assessment documentation.

Qualification Required & Experience
Education
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
• Professional certification in PMP/COSO /qualification in Business Process Optimisation a must.
Experience
• 5 years management experience or more; with at least 3 years in relevant sector / industry /area of specialisation (an understanding of emerging markets is advantageous) in a supervisory role.
• Work experience across diverse cultures
• Experience working in a medium to large organization
