Job Description

Position: Finance and Operations Manager

Direct Manager: Country Director

Works Closely with: Be Girl Global Impact Director and CFO

Direct reports: None

Job Type: Full-time

About Be Girl:

Be Girl is a global social business, founded in 2014, with headquarters in Washington, DC USA. Be Girl takes a holistic, design-driven approach to menstrual health and hygiene. We challenge the status quo by using design to re-brand menstruation and build a world where all girls own, understand, and love their bodies. We work to achieve this vision through distributing our sustainable, high-quality menstrual products, delivering age-appropriate menstruation education programs, and creating transformative messaging for a stigma-free world.

Be Girl’s strategy is implemented by two departments: 1) Commercial, which includes product sales through distributor channels, individual sales representatives, and direct-to-consumer; and 2) Social Impact, which includes partnerships with NGOs to sell period products in bulk for distribution through social impact programs and provide training in menstrual education.

Be Girl leverages grant funding from Global Communities to enable entry into the Ghana market to offer sustainable, quality period products at affordable prices. Beginning in March 2022, Be Girl expects to begin implementing a grant-funded program through the Ghana Enhancing Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Program in rural areas.

Be Girl’s role in Enhancing WASH is to support an integrated, sustainable, market-based approach to menstrual hygiene products, education, and enabling environment. Be Girl’s phased approach aims to achieve short-term results in menstrual hygiene for vulnerable communities while laying the groundwork for long-term, sustainable, poor-inclusive market access for life-improving, cost-saving menstrual products. With Global Communities Ghana’s expertise as an engager, facilitator, and enabler for a market-based pro-poor approach to rural sanitation, Be Girl will systematically develop a poor-inclusive market for low-cost, high-quality reusable menstrual products that deliver reliable menstrual protection and enable female family members to participate in daily activities during menstruation.
