Your Impact:
  • The Drill Trainer is responsible for delivering high-quality drilling training programs, assessing trainee competence, and ensuring compliance with operational, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • The incumbent will support the development of drilling and other mining personnel through classroom instruction, practical field coaching, and competency assessments.
  • The role leverages modern training methodologies and digital learning tools to enhance workforce productivity, improve employee engagement, and promote a safer work environment.
As Part Of Our Team You Will:
  • Deliver and facilitate competency-based drilling training through classroom, field, and practical coaching sessions on Sandvik D45KS, DP1500i, DR560 Cubex and CATMD6200.
  • Develop, maintain and continuously improve training materials, assessment tools and competency frameworks.
  • Assess, monitor and support operator competence through evaluations, coaching and development plans.
  • Maintain accurate training records, certifications, and compliance documentation.
  • Analyze training effectiveness and provide reports on competency, performance and training outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance and Safety teams to identify and address training needs.
  • Use operational performance data and incident trends to enhance training programs and workforce capability.
  • Ensure all training activities comply with company, regulatory, health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence across drilling teams.
  • Deliver MineStar application training for Drill Operators.
  • Support Talent Acquisition with recruitment assessment.
Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

  • Diploma or Degree in Drilling, Mining Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Workplace Trainer / Assessor Certification.
  • Mincom Trainer Certificate.
  • Driver Instructor and Assessor Certificate – added advantage.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience in surface drilling operations.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in training, coaching, mentoring, or supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience in competency-based training and assessment.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing drilling training programs.
  • Experience working with diverse crews in a mining environment.

 

Additional Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Ghana Occupational Health and Safety laws.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Ability to plan and deliver process training activities.
  • Coaching skills.
  • Strong training facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office suite software such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint
