Your Impact:
  • Oversee mine services to support safe and efficient mining operations and ensure regulatory compliance.
As Part of Our Team You Will:
  • Be a visible leader, creating a culture of care through engaging, developing and coaching the Mine Services teams.
  • Supervise and handle daily surface mining operations, especially Road crew and mine projects and quarry to ensure efficiency and safety.
  • Liaise with various team members to ensure optimal use of equipment and resources to meet production targets.
  • Adhere to all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Execute regular safety inspections and audits, solving any violations or concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Schedule and provide resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to support operational requirements and maximize productivity.
  • Prepare and execute daily and weekly operational plans in collaboration with other supervisors and team leaders.
  • Monitor the performance of surface mining operations through data analysis and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Prepare and deliver regular reports on operational performance, safety incidents, and compliance to senior management.
  • Responsible for assessing relevant risks, implementing mitigation measures, and continuously monitoring risks.
Your Training, Skills and Experience Checklist:

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations): 

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Mine /Civil Engineering, Building technology, or equivalent trade qualification.
  • Minerals Commission (Ghana) MINCOM Mine Foreman – required.
  • Minerals Commission (Ghana) MINCOM Mine Captain certification – added advantage.
  • Valid Driving License.

Additional Knowledge:

  • High level understanding of incident and investigation processes.
  • Knowledge of hazard identification and rectification.
  • Understanding of site standards and safe working environments.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 – 10 years’ experience in a mining, quarry, construction environment, with a minimum 3 – 6 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Proven track record of safe work practices in high-risk environments.
  • Experience carrying out risk assessments, verifications and workplace inspections.
  • Previous experience leading, coaching and mentoring employees with diverse skills and capabilities.

  • Completes concrete procedural tasks.
  • Follows procedural steps to complete work.
  • Uses practical judgment to overcome problems, or requests assistance.
  • Sees alternatives based on trial and error.
  • Improves working methods using day-to-day experiences, procedures, observations of pattern of events, and trial and error.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships across all workgroups.
  • Strong administrative skills with attention to detail to review and manage weekly plans.
  • Competent computer skills with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Capable of learning Systems, Applications, and Products ( SAP) work management system.
  • Capable of learning Fatal Risk Management (FRM) safety applications.

  • Self-awareness:Understands own behaviours and is aware of the impact on others. Adapts their own behaviour where necessary in order to get a productive outcome for the wider team.
  • Team process: Able to be an effective team member and leader by listening, clarifying tasks, dealing with different points of view, and giving, receiving, and acting on feedback to establish and maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Collaboration: Builds positive working relationships with a diverse range of people across disciplines.
Working Conditions:
  • The position is located at our Ahafo North mine site.
