About This Role

  • To support the business (both the Operations Services, Process Operations and Mine Operations departments by performing the necessary planning, engineering, construction and project management duties required to deliver structural/civil projects from their scoping stage through their execution, start up and turnover stages.

In This Role You Will

Project Planning and Reporting:

  • Coordinate, plan and schedule project activities from the scoping stage through the execution stage following the Newmont Capital Effectiveness Stage Gate process.
  • Coordinate with engineering consultants to ensure engineering design deliverables meet project specifications and standards.

Structural Design

  • Measure and make calculations about loads and pressures caused by environmental or human influence.
  • Create structural models by using computer-aided design software.
  • Perform structural engineering design works (including concrete, steel and timber design) and ensure all engineering deliverables meet project specifications and standards, within schedule and budget.
  • Perform engineering design work for non-electrical infrastructure projects in accordance to project specifications and standards.
  • Design, supervise and coach CAD technicians to produce engineering design deliverables.
  • Follow construction safety guidelines.

Engineering, Construction And Management Support

  • Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions including time and scope involved.
  • Prepare engineering & construction scope of work to support bid package.
  • Develop cost estimates and perform economic evaluations to support project business cases including preparation of AFEs.
  • Provide field engineering and construction management support by Inspecting project site and evaluate contractor work to detect design malfunctions and ensure conformance to design specifications.
  • Develop proposal documentation for engineering and construction bidding purposes.
  • Assist other department engineers in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions and demonstrating them to other members of the team.

Your Training, Skills, & Experience Checklist

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

  • B.Sc. Degree in Civil Engineering or, or related field.
  • Must be a member of a recognized Engineering Professional body – Ghana.

Additional Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, STAAD Pro Software and or any other Structural/Civil design software.
  • Manuel structural design calculations.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5-year experience with continuous structural design works.
  • Must have experience in working on real estate housing/resettlement housing project in mining industry.
  • Must have experience in working on foundation, concrete, steel and portal framing designs in the mining industry.
  • Project engineering and construction experience.
  • Must have handled multiple of designs at the same time.
