Job Summary

As a Stores Assistant, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining materials and equipment inventory. Your primary duties will include receiving, storing, issuing, and organizing supplies and equipment to ensure smooth and efficient operations on the site.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Inventory Management:

• Receive and inspect incoming materials and supplies.
• Maintain accurate records of all items in stock, ensuring proper documentation of receipts and issuances.
• Conduct regular stock counts to reconcile inventory levels and identify discrepancies.

2. Storage and Organization:

• Properly store materials and equipment to prevent damage or loss.
• Organize the warehouse or storage area for easy accessibility and efficient workflow.
• Implement a system for the systematic arrangement of items to facilitate quick retrieval.

3. Issuance and Distribution:

• Process requests for materials and equipment from various departments or sites.
• Ensure timely and accurate issuance of materials based on approved requisitions.
• Monitor and control the distribution of materials to avoid shortages or overages.

4. Quality Control:

• Work closely with the quality control team to ensure that materials meet required standards.
• Report any damaged or defective items and coordinate returns or replacements.

5. Documentation:

• Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date records of all transactions, including receipts, issuances, and returns.
• Generate regular reports on inventory levels, consumption, and other relevant metrics.

6. Communication:

• Communicate effectively with site managers and other relevant personnel regarding material requirements and availability.

7. Safety and Compliance:

• Adhere to safety guidelines and ensure that all storage and handling procedures comply with industry regulations.
• Implement and enforce security measures to protect the warehouse and its contents.

8. Equipment Maintenance:

• Oversee the maintenance and servicing of equipment stored in the warehouse.

Other Duties

• Performs any other allied duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Line Manager or his designate.

Qualification Required & Experience

• Higher National Diploma or its equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics or inventory management is a plus.
• Proven experience as a storekeeper or similar role in a construction environment.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and safety protocols.
• Proficient in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office applications.

Working Conditions:

• This role may require physical work, including lifting and moving heavy materials.
• Work may be conducted in a warehouse or construction site environment.
