Position Title: School Counselor

Job Review: The School Counselor plays a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of students. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of child and adolescent development, and the ability to provide guidance and counseling to students facing various challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

Individual & Group Counseling:

Provide confidential counseling to students on academic, personal, social, and emotional issues.
Help students develop coping strategies, problem-solving skills, and resilience.
Facilitate group counseling sessions on topics of importance to the general student body

Crisis Intervention:

• Respond to crisis situations and provide immediate support to students in distress.
• Collaborate with school administrators and external resources to ensure students receive appropriate assistance.

Academic Support:

• Assist students in setting academic goals and developing plans to achieve them.
• Monitor student academic progress and provide interventions as needed.

Career Guidance:

• Conduct career assessments and provide guidance on career exploration and planning.
• Assist students in developing skills related to college and career readiness.

Collaboration:

• Collaborate with teachers and parents to support student success and well-being.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student concerns and develop appropriate interventions.

Educational Programming:

• Develop and implement educational programs on topics such as mental health awareness, substance abuse prevention, and healthy relationships.
• Conduct workshops and presentations for students, staff, and parents as needed.

Documentation and Evaluation:

• Maintain accurate and confidential student records, including counseling notes and progress reports.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling interventions and adjust strategies as necessary.

Qualification Required & Experience

• A bachelor’s degree in guidance and counseling, psychology or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in counseling children and adolescents is preferred.
• Strong understanding of ethical and legal guidelines related to counseling practices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and crisis intervention skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a school environment and with diverse students
