Job Description


The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking to recruit a dynamic and experienced Research Officer- Monitoring and Evaluation to lead the monitoring and evaluation component of the Generating Revenues & Opportunities for Women to Improve Nutrition in Ghana (GROWING) project, which is a gender-transformative, nutrition-sensitive intervention in six districts of northern Ghana.

The Position: This position will be hosted by the International Water Management Institute in Ghana, on behalf of the International Potato Center. The selected candidate will be base in Tamale, Ghana and will report to the Project and Marketing Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement household surveys at baseline and endline to assess the initial impact of the project.

Design and implement the monitoring system, including digital tools to collect data and connect stakeholders along selected value chains.

Conduct value chain studies.

Analyze quantitative data and write reports.

Conduct gender-sensitive qualitative research, including focus group discussions.

Ensure the organization and documentation of all data files.

Ensure relevant staff are familiar with CIP’s open access and data management policies.

Requirements

Essential

Master’s Degree in Agricultural Economics, Economics or Marketing.

Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience.

Proven experience designing household survey and data and cleaning protocols c7aiI80 u0j19

Proficient in EXCEL, ODK software and a statistical package such as STATA.

Knowledge of value chain components and assessment.

Ability to conduct and interpret focus group discussions.

Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multicultural environment with a collaborative style.

Strong ability to organize and manage data sets.

Excellent communication and writing skills in English.

Desirable

Experience in conducting gender-aware studies and gender analysis

Experience working with sweetpotato or other vegetatively propagated crops.

Skills in developing business plans.

Experience designing and implementing digital tools.

Excellent publishing record in relevant fields.

Knowledge of a local language of Northern Ghana

Compensation package commensurate with experience.

This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position limited to Ghana nationals and permanent residents only. The contract will be for an initial period of (03) three years (with a 6-month probation period). Renewal is dependent on performance and availability of funds.
