Job Description

Banyan Global is recruiting a Research Director for the USAID/West Africa Peace through Evaluation, Learning, and Adaptation II (PELA II) Activity. The Research Director will be responsible for the technical, contractual, and financial compliance and performance of services delivered under the award. The position is full-time, based in Accra, Ghana, and contingent on funding.
Responsibilities
• Lead all project planning and implementation, ensuring that activity tasks are completed and objectives successfully met;
• Serve as the primary point of contact with and represent the activity to USAID;
• Provide leadership in and oversight to performance and impact evaluations, research and analysis, capacity building, and collaborating, learning, and adapting;
• Proactively identify resources required by the project, including consultants and subcontractors, and develop scopes of work for the same;
• Ensure the quality and timeliness of all contract deliverables and work products;
• Directly or indirectly supervise all project staff and consultants;
• Ensure adherence to all relevant USG, Banyan Global, and host country rules, regulations, and laws, including those related to procurement and labor and employment; and
• Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements
• At least 6 years of experience successfully managing monitoring and evaluation, CLA, analytical research, and/or program support mechanism;
• Master’s degree in monitoring and evaluation, public administration, political science, international relations, conflict resolution and peacebuilding or related field (PhD preferred);
• Experience in Countering Violent Extremism or Peace Promotion preferred;
• Ability to successfully manage and develop staff in a multi-country and multi-cultural setting as demonstrated by past experience;
• Ability to manage USAID contracts and all required reporting requirements;
• Experience establishing or supporting networks preferred;
• Ability to perform internal control functions to manage day-to-day operations of a USAID contract; and
• Fluency speaking, reading, and writing in English, with a minimum of professional proficiency in French.
Preferred qualifications
• Professional experience in West Africa; and
• Leadership experience on MEL platforms or similar programs.
