Job Description

Purpose of Role:

The purpose of this role is to provide quality assurance support to the production process.

Results / Accountabilities

  • 1.    Conduct thorough inspections and assessments of incoming raw materials, intermediate products, and finished tomato-based products to verify conformity with established quality standards.
    2.    Perform batch-level testing, including sensory evaluation, pH testing, viscosity measurement, and color analysis, to ensure products meet predetermined specifications.
    3.    Ensure compliance with food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, HACCP) by conducting regular audits, inspections, and verification of critical control points within the production process.
    4.    Collaborate with production teams to implement corrective actions as needed.
    5.    Identify and document defects, inconsistencies, and non-conformities in products, materials, or processes.
    6.    Collect, record, and maintain accurate and comprehensive data related to quality control tests, inspections, and analysis. Prepare detailed reports on testing outcomes and trends.
    7.    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement process improvements aimed at enhancing product quality, optimizing efficiency, and reducing waste.
    8.    Perform root cause analysis to determine underlying factors contributing to quality issues. Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
    9.    Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality control procedures, food safety practices, and compliance requirements.
    10.    Perform any other duties assigned by the line manager.

Requirements

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience:

  • Minimum HND in food science, Food Technology, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in quality control or quality assurance within the food manufacturing industry, preferably with a focus on tomato-based products.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, HACCP) and quality management systems.
  • Familiarity with testing methods specific to tomato products, including sensory evaluation and laboratory tests.

Preferred skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Analytical mindset with the capability to identify patterns and trends from data.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with production teams and suppliers.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to drive process improvements.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) within the food industry.
