Job Description


PROJECT SCHEDULER  

The Project Scheduler is accountable for developing a consolidated schedule for the mine and monitoring the progress of deliverables and milestones to ensure that annual work programs are on track. The role holder is also accountable for weekly and monthly project performance reports including project schedule variance, schedule risk management, and critical path analysis..

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for the setup, implementation, maintenance, and management of the baseline project master schedule and performance baseline to AGA Planning and Scheduling standards
  • Assist the Snr Project Planner in managing and maintaining the Primavera planning system
  • Support the PSBI department by providing accurate and timely planning information, such as schedule performance updates, schedule variance analysis, and corrective actions to support decision-making processes
  • Prepare project reports including S-Curves, Dashboard, earned value management, etc.
  • Ensure schedules are aligned to appropriate WBS, contracting, and procurement strategies
  • Conduct schedule analysis utilising resource loading and leveling, S curves, and histograms to ensure schedules are attainable and realistic
  • Oversee planning and scheduling resources to ensure adequate information and support are provided to the senior management team
  • Provide appropriate training and guidance to key stakeholders where necessary to ensure data quality and integrity are maintained to support timely decision-making
  • Promote best-practice planning and scheduling techniques
  • Support a planning culture where continuous performance improvement is valued
  • Implement schedule controls including float management, earned value, and critical path analysis, with a well-defined, objective progress measurement regime
  • Actively participate in schedule review meetings, maintain meeting records and agreed-upon actions from minutes, and any follow activities to ensure actions are completed on time
  • Proactively address schedule changes and incorporate formally approved changes into the schedule
  • Review contractor and third-party schedules before incorporating them into the project master schedule
  • Understand and adhere to HSE regulations and ensure safety is a prime consideration in the planning process
  • Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution.
  • Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time.
  • Act on all corrective actions assigned to you or under your jurisdiction and ensure timely completion.
  • Ensure compliance with Safety KPIs including, reporting all incidents and acting on all corrective actions assigned for timely completion.

 

 

QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

 

Qualification

  • A recognized tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction or Project Management
  • Project Management Certification (PMP) is desirable
  • Scheduling Professional Certification (PMI–SP or AACE–SP) will be an added advantage

 

Experience

  • Minimum of one year’s experience in a planning and scheduling role in a mining or related environment
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of project management with intermediate knowledge of planning principles, schedule control, progress measurement, change control, and reporting principles
  • Considerable Engineering and Construction planning experience
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 Software (or willingness and ability to learn) and MS Project
  • Commitment to a culture of continuous improvement
