Job Description
AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited, Obuasi Gold Mine is currently near completion of the redevelopment phase to become a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation has been fully mechanized and designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.
We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Project Planner.
ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT
To provide planning and scheduling support to Senior project planner, including schedule development, schedule risk analysis, scenario planning and project progress reporting. Support the Implementation of AGA project planning and schedule control process, and all project planning deliverables.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Comply with AGAG Environmental Management, compliance and other legal requirements.
- Take action to prevent environmental pollution.
- Comply and follow the operating procedures and environmental rules for the performance of the assigned job.
- Correct, or report to their supervisor, any observed environmental deviations, practices and conditions as well make suggestions to improve any aspect of environmental management.
- Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution.
- Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time.
- Act on all corrective actions assigned to you or under your jurisdiction and ensure timely completion.
- Provide the project planning input to the Project Controls Plan, ensuring alignment between project functions (e.g., Schedule – Cost interface at project level).
- Ensure understanding of and adherence to AGA planning and scheduling requirements/standards.
- Assist in the maintenance of the project master schedule, accordingly, ensuring a clear schedule control process is implemented.
- Implement the expanded WBS structure for the specific project.
- Define schedule activity detail per discipline and develop key deliverable lists per discipline.
- Assist with the maintenance of overall project schedule including activity logic and resources, with clear identification of critical path, and update as defined by the project reporting cycle.
- Provide support to the project risk management process by identifying key project risks and constraints within the project schedule and producing ‘What If” scenarios.
- Assist in the provision of planning and schedule performance inputs to project status reporting. Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Qualification
- Recognised tertiary qualification (degree) in Engineering.
- Certificate in project management would be an added advantage.
Experience
- At least 2 – 4 years’ experience in Project Controls functions, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Project Planning and Scheduling role on mining projects
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of project management principles, with advanced knowledge of planning principles.
- Demonstrated proficiency in planning software packages, including Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
Technical Competencies
- Engineering and Construction planning experience.
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of project management principles, with advanced knowledge of planning principles.
- Knowledge of planning tools and systems including risk and scenario modelling.
- Knowledge of related project controls functions specifically planning and control, progress measurement, change control and reporting principles.
Other Competencies
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
