Role Overview
As the Programme Manager at AFG, you will be running a flagship initiative of AFG called African Hidden Champions (AHC) (www.africanhiddenchampions.com) as well as further spin-off initiatives related to this programme. AHC is the leading network for African companies that are secretly building the muscle for global leadership and range from 20-500M in revenue. Companies in the network receive visibility, international market access and expert advisory support. You are the perfect fit for this role if you love the idea of supporting established businesses in Africa in achieving multinational growth to create thousands of jobs, are comfortable to engage with CEOs from across the continent and are a master of on-the-spot problem-solving. You are happy to innovate and build things from scratch, be it a new support offer for hidden champions, a new event format or that presentation deck we need to build last minute.

Your experience
- BSc Degree from a leading African or foreign tertiary institution
- 3-4 years of working experience, with focus on African private sector and gained experience in senior stakeholder management
- Experience in community management or people network development is a big plus
- Building storyboards and logic trees to analyze a problem is something you could do all day
- Experience in managing a team and upward management
- Excellent written communication skills to develop Powerpoint presentations and short reports with minimal supervision
- Strong written communication skills with attention to details
- Strong entrepreneurial skills and “can do” attitude
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment, supported by team members
Your responsibilities
Governance
- In charge of preparing regular updates to the Steering Committee of the initiative about progress of the programme
- Interacts with the Steering Committee, organizes regular meetings with each sub-committee and leads all content preparation for such meetings
- Manages the appointment and re-appointment of new steering committee members
- Supports with the development of wider “ambassador” network around the initiative
Project management
- Administers pool of nominated companies for the initiative and manages semi-annual nomination process for new companies to join
- Leads the onboarding of new hidden champions and anchors the time management of case preparation about them
- Drives the implementation of new value-added services for existing hidden champions
- Oversees budget of the initiative against actual projections in close collaboration with the AFG Finance team
Event management
- Design and implement a robust impact tracking system for AFG
- Develop regular reporting on the level of impact achievement of AFG that is shared with internal and external stakeholders
Communication
- Anchors the development of thought leadership content for hidden champions in collaboration with other team members
- Leads regular updates to the hidden champions website
- Publishes quarterly newsletters about the initiative
Expansion
- Drives continued outreach to potential new partners such as business schools and media outlets for the initiative
- Develops partnership proposals for new interested collaborators and/or funders to expand and complement the initiative
