Job Description


The Savannah Fruits Company (SFC) is seeking a reliable, innovative Plant Operator for our coconut processing activities in Half-Assini, Western Region. You will join our growing team of professionals and be responsible for supervising production of coconut products such as Virgin Coconut Oil and by products, optimizing processes, controlling quality, and installing new production units in remote areas.

To be successful as a plant operator, you should be an independent thinker and keen problem-solver. You will work under the supervision of the production engineer and the production manager, both based in Tamale. Therefore, you will have to be autonomous and eager to work daily by your own but also a good communicant to share progress and report on production and issues.

1 ABOUT THE SAVANNAH FRUITS CO. LTD (SFC)

The Savannah Fruits Company is a Ghanaian company focused on sustainable production and export of high quality, traditionally handcrafted shea butter and other African natural products such as virgin coconut oil, black soap, baobab oil etc. The company delivers high quality ingredients to the international edible and cosmetic markets. We work with local cooperatives, empowering Ghanaian women in a sustainable and profitable manner.

2 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervising the VCO manufacturing processes, ensuring quality work is done in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Operate all equipment on the existing site.
  • Optimize processes.
  • Liaising with other engineers to develop plans that improve production, costs, and labor required.
  • Diagnosing problems in the production line and providing recommendations and training.
  • Establishing safety procedures and protocols that take the workers’ well-being into account, and that also minimize the carbon footprint.
  • Keeping abreast of advancements in engineering and production; and sharing knowledge with co-workers.
  • Identifying, documenting, and reporting unsafe practices. Drawing up production schedules and budgets for projects.
  • Scheduling meetings with relevant departments and stakeholders.
  • Analyzing all facets of production and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Obtaining any materials and equipment required.

3 REQUIREMENTS &DESIRED EXPERIENCE

• Degree in engineering

• Proficiency in MS Office.

• At least 5 years of proven experience in the engineering field.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

• Ability to make decisions under pressure.

• Great planning and organizational skills

• Ability to work under low supervision in rural areas.

This Plant Operator position is full-time and is based in Half-Assini in the Western Region of Ghana with the possibility of traveling to our various processing centers around Western Region. The salary is competitive depending on experience and performance. We also offer benefits such as a communications stipend, Tier 1& 2 pension contribution & health insurance and paid leave after a probation period of 6 months.
