Job Description


Pharmacist Profile

A highly-skilled and trusted medication expert. Possesses extensive knowlegde about drugs and their use. Can advise physicians and other healthcare workers on the selection, dosage, interactions, and side effects of medications to treat illnesses. Will supervise, monitor and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of patient care provided by pharmacy staff and manage daily activities with regards to effective operations and communications. Responsible for the appropriate budgeting, purchasing, control and security of all drug products and medical supplies.

DUTIES

1. Assist the pharmacy manager in the day-to day running of the pharmacy

2. Review and execute physician’s prescriptions checking their appropriateness and legality

3. Check patients’ allergies, medical conditions, and other drugs they are taking to ensure that the newly prescribed medication does not cause adverse reaction

4. Instruct patients on proper use, side effects, and storage of prescribed medicines

5. Advise patients about general health topics, such as exercise and managing stress, and on other issues, such as what equipment or supplies would be best to treat a health problem

6. Supervise the work of medical counter assistants, pharmacy technicians and pharmacists in training (interns)

7. Maintain patient and pharmacy records

8. Educate other healthcare workers about proper medication therapies for patients

9. Maintaining full control over delivering, stocking and labeling medicine and other products

10. Organize the pharmacy in an efficient manner to make the identification of products easier and faster

11. Keep abreast of advancements in medicine by attending conferences and seminars and collaborating with other healthcare professionals

12. Comply with all applicable legal rules, regulations and procedures

Requirements and skills

1. A Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy and must be a registered Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Council and should be in good standing

2. A minimum of a year working year experience as a pharmacist and any other equivalent combination of relevant education or experience

3. Thorough understanding of dosage administration and measurement, chemical compounds, medical brands etc.

4. Outstanding knowledge of MS Office and Pharmacy information systems will be an advantage

5. Good organizing skills

6. Excellent communication skills with a customer oriented approach

7. Integrity and compassion
