Job Description


Abosso Goldfields Limited is currently seeking an Procurement Officer to join their Supply Chain department.

Reporting to the Supply Chain Coordinator, he/she will utilize his/her acquired skills and knowledge to oversee the procurement Area, the successful incumbent will be responsible for the timeous placement of purchase orders for materials/resources in an efficient and cost effective manner to enhance productivity in accordance with laid down rules, procedures and regulations to achieve set targets.

About the role:

  • Ensure strict compliance to Gold Fields Supply Chain Management Policy and Procedure manual and work ethics
  • Source quotations from registered potential suppliers/vendors and liaise with them to ensure that enquiries/orders are acknowledged
  • Selects right bidder based on cost to Company, efficiency of supplier and quality of goods and services to be supplied
  • Ensures that suppliers/vendors deliver goods or services within the prescribed time period
  • Scrutinize all enquiries and purchase requisitions to ensure correct specifications
  • Expedite all local and foreign purchases, reagents, lubricants and safety items
  • Liaise with Gold Fields freight forwarders to fast track movement of cargo delivery
  • Review pre-payment for authorization for both local and foreign suppliers

About you:

  • Tertiary qualification in Purchasing and Supply or related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years` professional experience in Supply Chain, Procurement and Logistics Management preferably in the Mining or extractive industry
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and SAP
  • Proactive, Self-motivated and able to work for long hours to obtain required results
  • Extensive knowledge in applicable Supply Chain Management Regulations and Code of Practice
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with people of diverse cultures and levels
  • Medical fitness for the position and environment
  • Must possess a valid Ghanaian driver’s license
