AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited, Obuasi Gold Mine is currently near completion of the redevelopment phase to become a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation has been fully mechanized and designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as NDT (NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING) TECHNICIAN.

ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

The NDT Technician is responsible for performing all non-destructive safety tests of structures, vehicles, or vessels using x-ray, ultrasound, fibre optic or related equipment across the site and equipment above and underground and reporting.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Work according to total quality management Principle & ensure zero defect objectives and safety
• Work in compliance with underground equipment safety operating procedures
• Report all incidents including potential safety hazard
• Adhere to site Environmental management plan and report all potential hazard
• Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using ultrasonic, radiographic, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, eddy current and other non-destructive testing methods
• Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results
• Use calibration standards and follow procedures in evaluating non-destructive testing instrument characteristics.
• Perform all recordkeeping and documentation necessary to accurately report all data pertinent to all NDT methods.
• Set up and operate non-destructive testing equipment to locate and measure internal and external defects
• Support quality assurance and defect elimination programs such as RCAs, Technical audits, etc.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Qualification

• HND in Chemical, Mechanical Electrical Engineering
• Level1 in Ultrasonic Testing, Radiographic Testing, Magnetic Testing, Eddy current Testing and Penetrant Testing

Experience 

• Six (6) years of practical working experience in penetrant testing, Magnetic particle testing and Ultrasonic testing methods
• Familiarity with the Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health Safety and Technical) Regulation
• Specialized training in NDT analysis and other condition monitoring techniques
