Job Description

About Warc
Our Vision & Mission:
At Warc Africa, we envision a future where Africa nourishes the world while its farmers become the stewards of its fertile soils. Our mission is straightforward: uplift farmers from poverty through regenerative farming practices. We’ve already positively impacted the lives of more than 100,000 people, increasing their income and improving livelihoods. Our rapid growth has created thousands of rural jobs and facilitated the movement of tens of thousands of tons of crops to become food for the country.
But we’re just getting started. Our vision extends beyond Ghana, to West Africa, and sub-Saharan Africa, where we aim to empower one million farmers, helping them generate hundreds of millions of dollars while becoming climate heroes in the process.
We’ve already laid the foundation and are now looking for passionate individuals to join us on this transformative journey.

Our Roots & Reach:
Born from hands-on experience, Warc Africa has grown into a diverse team of 250 full time from 16 countries. In Ghana’s Upper West Region, we serve over 22,000 farmers, have a footprint in Sierra Leone and our eyes across the continent. Our 100 female-run Trading Hubs put us closer to the farmer than anyone else – allowing us to solve problems of productive inputs, knowledge, and markets. We’re now ready to transform how we serve farmers across the continent.

About the Job
As our Mega Hub Site Supervisor, you’ll be central to Warc’s success. This year alone we’re expecting to work with 40,000 farmers across 5 districts in the Upper West Region – and it’s only going to keep going up each year. You’ll be in charge of a geographic area that spans a few Mega Hub sites and its network of feeder Trading Hubs. The role requires strong leadership to manage the site operations team, ensure the smooth receipt and storage of commodities, and maintain accurate inventory records to prevent loss. You will collaborate with other hubs and internal departments to streamline logistics, improve processes, and foster an inclusive, safe, and efficient work environment. You’ll need to be organized, detailed, and have strong coordination skills to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities & Deliverables:
Operations Control:

  • Supervise the successful receipt of commodities from the site and Supporting Hubs within the cluster.
  • Oversee the quality control of products upon receipt, ensuring all commodities meet company standards.
  • Organize and monitor the storage of commodities, either in silos or warehouses, ensuring proper handling and optimal storage conditions.
  • Assist in planning for production and external logistics needs, ensuring the hub has the resources necessary for efficient operations.
  • Maintenance of all equipment and storage facilities, ensuring that all machinery is functioning properly and that storage spaces are in optimal condition.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule routine inspections and repairs, minimizing operational downtime.

Logistics Coordination

  • Plan and execute internal transportation schedules for efficient movement of goods from Supporting Hubs to the Mega Hub, minimizing delays and maximizing productivity.
  • Report any logistical challenges or delays to management and propose improvement solutions.
  • Forecast demand, manage supply chain risks, and plan accordingly to meet production targets.

Inventory and Data Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory records, ensuring up-to-date tracking of all commodities in storage.
  • Assist and suggest measures to prevent loss, shrinkage, or damage of products.
  • Utilize inventory management software to log and track the movement of goods, ensuring data accuracy.

Communication and Process Improvement:

  • Collaborate with other site supervisors and managers to share ideas, best practices, and strategies for process improvement.
  • Report operational performance, challenges, and any incidents to upper management.
  • Develop and propose process enhancements to streamline production and logistics.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
  • Provide reports to supervisors and management as required, including updates on commodity quality, production output, and storage levels.

Basic Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Management, or a related
    field.
  • 5-7 years of experience as a Supervisor in operations, logistics, or a similar environment, ideally within a grain processing facility or related industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to create a positive and productive work environment.
  • Experience in inventory management, logistics coordination, and quality control.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with inventory management systems and software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with various teams and stakeholders.

Additional Skills:
● Knowledge of grain storage best practices, including silo and warehouse management is an asset.
● Familiarity with health and safety regulations in an industrial setting.
Professional traits that are not unique to this position, but necessary for Warc leaders:
● Results-oriented
● Has relentlessly high standards
● Passionate about improving the lives of smallholder farmers in Africa
● Exhibits excellent judgment
● Thinks strategically, but stays on top of tactical execution
