We will achieve this by working together with people and partners to address the systemic barriers fuelling inequality and poverty. The Role
To lead and support the country leadership in realising a vision of making Ghana’s economic system just by ensuring that the participation in the generation of wealth and income and their distribution are gender equitable, environmentally sustainable and enable fulfilment of human rights.
Reporting to the Programmes and Policy Influencing Lead and working closely and collaboratively as a member of the Extended Country Leadership Team, the role will lead and manage Oxfam in Ghana’s just economy programme and policy influencing strategy and operational plans. The role will develop and manage relations with civil society organisations, private sector, government, donors, and others for impactful delivery of results in a programmatic and transformative partnership approach. This will include contributing to strengthening analysis and generating knowledge and influence for just economic models, policies and practices across the natural resource justice, climate justice and sustainable food systems objectives.
Represent Oxfam at internal and external events and meetings as appropriate.
The person (applicants must be citizens of Ghana or have legal status to work in Ghana)
We are looking for a dynamic and committed individual with the following:
- Master’s degree in a related field (international development, economics, natural resource governance, development studies, public policy).
- Preference for 5-10 years of experience with a range of non-profit, corporate or government organisations. A detailed understanding of non-profit programme management and advocacy is critical.
- Significant senior leadership and management experience in the development and delivery of high-quality programme and advocacy influencing strategies.
- Experience of managing complex programmes and relationships involving a wide range of both internal and external multi-cultural stakeholders across teams and geographical areas.
- Ability to develop and contribute to high-level economic policy and political economy analysis.
- The ability to ‘think politically’ understanding motivations, pressures, power dynamics and challenges faced by colleagues, and other actors; and the ability to generate effective strategies to influence them.
- Ability to develop and contribute to high-level analysis of economic policy and budget statements.
- Proven track record of success in representing an organization with partners, government agencies, and private foundations at senior level: nationally and globally.
- Demonstrable ability to convey complex messages in an appropriate manner to broad and diverse audiences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to motivate, influence and negotiate.
- Proficiency in English.
