The Role

The role of the Human Resource/Safeguarding Officer at FAWE Ghana is crucial. You will be responsible for managing various aspects of employee welfare and safety, including recruitment, on-boarding, training, managing employee lifecycles, and managing employee benefits. Your role also involves ensuring compliance with labour laws, handling grievances, and promoting a safe and respectful work environment. In terms of safeguarding, you will play a key role in implementing policies and procedures to protect vulnerable individuals from harm or abuse within FAWE Ghana and its related partners and networks. We are looking for a committed individual who is familiar with NGOs’ human resource/safeguarding roles. You should be a passionate, proactive individual who aligns with FAWE Ghana values and is comfortable working collaboratively with a team, external stakeholders, and young people. This position lies within the Programmes and Administration Unit and reports to the Programmes Manager. The role holder will be expected to work outside the usual role and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure the safety of team members from harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation to achieve FAWE Ghana’s safeguarding goals.
• Act as a resource of support and expertise on safeguarding to establish a safe working environment for all with the FAWE Ghana family and all its partners.
• Practice, promote, and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every action in FAWE Ghana.
• Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident occurs and encourage others to do so.

KEY DUTIES

• Guide & lead teams of HR and Training on various aspects of strategic and Operational HR training efforts focused on capability development.
• Manage relationships to support FAWE Ghana’s short-term and long-term goals. This role offers a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth, allowing you to contribute to the organization’s strategic direction and develop your skills in HR policy and analytics.
• Develop practices and programs that attract, retain, and develop the best possible talent in the marketplace and make FAWE Ghana attractive through competitive pay and an engaging culture.
• Selection, proposing, and delivering new HR initiatives and cascading progressive HR practices, coordinating and communicating with FAWE RS, and supporting change management programmes.
• HR Policy review and analytics – monitoring all aspects of HR compliance, employment legislation, supporting HRIS and evaluating relevant HR data.
• Manage the on-boarding of new staff into FAWE Ghana
• Manage and ensure exiting staff complete the required documentation, review and summarize the exit debrief, and share the report with management.
• Facilitate and administer Saff welfare within FAWE Ghana
• Ensure all the recruitment process and steps have safeguarding components from the drafting of the JD, advertising, and interview the assessment form.

Qualification Required & Experience

Essential

• A bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field (essential) • Member of IHRM • CHRP Qualification
• A master’s degree in any of these areas will be an added advantage.
• A minimum of 5 years of work experience in Human Resources
• Previous 3+ years experience in HR, specifically in non-profit organizations/non-governmental organizations.
• Experience working in a fast-paced and multicultural office (preferred)
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Power-point
• Good judgement and extremely high attention to detail
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills, collaborative style and approach, and ability to work effectively across cultures.
• Experience working under high-pressure, fast-paced environments and being able to deal with ambiguity and change in those contexts.
• Ability to plan and organize a substantial workload that includes complex, diverse tasks.
• Quality orientation, attention to detail, and excellent writing skills.
• Experience working with gender and youth-based organizations.
• Fluency in English (essential)
• A commitment to the mission, vision, and values of FAWE Ghana.
