Role Overview
This role requires an experienced Human Capital generalist, who will be accountable for translating the business strategy into a set of supporting plans, which they will execute and measure impact on. The incumbent will serve as a trusted advisor to the management team, in all aspects that impact people, organizational dynamics, and engagement, and will ensure that all people related matters are compliant with external regulations and internal governances. In partnership with Senior Managers, and with Human Capital partners in the broader Old Mutual Group, the incumbent will deliver appropriate Human Capital solutions for the business, execute all enterprise Human Capital calendar activities, and will act as an integrator along the whole HC value chain.
Key Result Areas
People Strategy
- Contributes to the development of an in-country Human Capital strategy and underlying plans, aligned to the business strategy, executes against these plans and measures impact.
- Builds a deep understanding of the business objectives and challenges, and the interests of the employee base, and proactively formulates solutions to address gaps and opportunities, improve productivity and enhance the overall people experience.
- Prepares and contributes to regular reporting for stakeholders in-country and for the broader Old Mutual Group, used to track progress on key initiatives and provide key insights.
Governance, Risk and Compliance
- Understands and complies with all the applicable governance, compliance and risk policies and procedures to ensure an effective Human Capital risk and controls environment.
- Conducts required communications, change and training exercises as required, to ensure shared understanding of key policies, governances, and controls.
- Takes appropriate risks, provides open observations, challenges assumptions, and positively influences others.
Human Capital Business Partnership
- Serves as a trusted advisor and coach to the in-country management team, and employees, in all aspects that impact people, organizational dynamics, and engagement.
- Partners with management teams to advise on key people challenges and opportunities, and on how to drive for a high-performance culture at business, team, and individual level.
- Provides policy guidance and interpretation, advisory and consulting on various Human Capital areas, ensuring understanding of and adherence to all Group governances, policies and procedures.
- Helps formulate responses to support business transformation, change and culture shifts, ensuring effective change management and communication strategies and plans are in place to support strategic and operational change.
- Partners with the broader Old Mutual Group to source solutions for key people challenges, and to ensure business needs are represented in policy and practice design and for segment and/or enterprise Human Capital initiatives.
Human Capital Operations
- Manages the deployment of the HC Calendar cycles and HC practices in-country, and partners with Line Managers to in the execution of the various HC practices: Talent Management, Performance Management, Learning & Development, Reward & Recognition, Organisational Effectiveness (Change, Culture, Wellness, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Workforce Planning and Organisational Design), Employment Relations, Change Management).
- Manages all Talent Attraction and Acquisition processes (Recruitment & Selection)
- Manages payroll, participation in the formulation of payroll budget and ensures performance against budget, policies, and execution of payment processes.
- Provides input to Country Mancos, Exco and to OMAR Central HC regarding HC issues and needs of the business.
- Prepares and monitors the functional financial forecasts and budgets to ensure effective cost control and management.
- Builds Line Management capability in people management and employee engagement.
Data, Analytics and Insights
- Leverages data and reporting to identify patterns, trends and inconsistencies, and uses this information to provide insights, diagnose issues and risks.
- Uses data, analysis and insights to diagnose issues and risks and proactively advise on people priorities and potential action required.
Stakeholder and People Management
- Manages relationships with third party providers and consultancies.
- Develops and leverages professional networks within and outside the organisation.
- Manages an effective HR team, as applicable.
Requirements: Skills, Qualifications and Experience required
The role requires a competent Human Capital professional with experience shaping and driving plans to deliver the human capital agenda for the business, disciplined execution of both operational and strategic initiatives, and with a demonstrated record of accomplishments.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or relevant field.
- Professional HC certification / membership from a recognized institute would be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally in a multinational environment. Experience in line management would be an added advantage.
- Deep understanding of in-country statutory and employment laws and regulations with experience across the full spectrum of Human Capital practices including but not limited to Talent, Learning & Development, Organisational Effectiveness (Change, Culture and Workforce Planning and Organisational Design), Performance & Reward, Employee Relations, and Compliance.
- Ability to self-manage, with strong planning and organising skills, time management, personal accountability, and results.
- Advanced computer literacy. Experience with the Workday (information system) would be an added advantage.
- Strong affinity for data and analytics.
