Job Description
A reputable private University is looking for an experienced senior executive in business development who will own and lead efforts to meet our student recruitment targets. Our ideal candidate has a data mindset partnered with tested convictions around student recruitment in higher education within Ghana and West Africa.
Job location: Accra
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Business Development: Using data, identify opportunities for student acquisition, convert opportunities to campaigns, and meet student targets as required by Institutional goals for the period
- Strategy Development: Draw insights from data collected cross-functionally to deeply understand the institution’s positioning, stakeholders, and operations, and work with the Head of the Institution to develop the recruitment and marketing strategy for the period; develop and administer Key Performance Indicators for direct reports; ensure the performance of the strategy, monitoring and evaluating across implementation period
- Corporate Partnerships: Establish and maintain relationships with major stakeholders with the aim of increasing student recruitment numbers
- Budgeting: Develop an annual budget for the department; monitor, evaluate and optimize its utilization
- Leadership: Build and maintain an effective team to implement departmental goals; establish and manage team processes, calendar, policies, systems, and events designed to meet targets
- Marketing: Oversee the development and execution of marketing strategy and annual plans as determined to ensure enrollment growth targets are met
- Reporting: organize and analyze enrollment data to generate reports; make datasupported recommendations for improving the institution’s offerings; update and ensure the integrity of enrollment data
- Collaborate closely with all other units in the institution to achieve enrollment growth
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Our ideal candidate must possess:
- A Master’s degree in Business Development, Sales or Higher Education Administration
- A minimum of 7 years of work experience in a related field (experience in higher education and/or student recruitment in Ghana is an added advantage)
- Critical and analytical thinking for spotting opportunities to sell
- Strategic mindset to see the bigger picture whilst focusing on the day-to-day operations within the team
- Business communications skills for public speaking, persuasion, negotiation, presentation, and conversational skills for relationship building
- Ability to develop, utilize and optimize budgets
- At least 3yrs experience in a supervisory role
- Strong organizational, planning and a strong bias for execution
- Data analysis (using excel) and generating dashboards for reporting
- Computer savviness especially Microsoft 365 -Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams
- Cross-functional collaboration, open-minded but focused
- Strong interpersonal skills, approachable but firm
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and willingness to work some evenings and weekends during peak seasons
- Availability to work on some weekends (during peak season) and to travel locally, regionally, and international if required
