JOB PURPOSE

The General Manager will provide overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for the company’s recycling trading business. The role requires strong business acumen, deep knowledge of international trading, and the ability to expand the company’s market presence locally and globally. The General Manager will oversee trading operations, build strong relationships with international and local clients, ensure operational efficiency, and drive profitability through effective business development and sound financial management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with international and local clients, suppliers, and partners to promote business growth.
• Lead trading operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and profitability across local and export markets.
• Develop and implement strategies for expanding into new international markets and strengthening the company’s global presence.
• Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and risk management, to ensure long-term sustainability.
• Identify, negotiate, and secure new business opportunities in recycling commodities trading.
• Ensure compliance with all local and international trade regulations, certifications, and sustainability standards.
• Drive operational excellence and innovation by implementing industry best practices, new trading technologies, and digital tools.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to staff, building a high-performance culture with succession planning and leadership continuity.
• Represent the company at international forums, exhibitions, and trade negotiations to enhance corporate visibility.
• Collaborate with technical and operational teams to align production capacity with trading demands and market trends.

Technical Education Requirements & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, International Trade, Economics, or related field.
• An MBA or postgraduate qualification is a must.
• Minimum of 10 years of management experience, with at least 5 years in international trading or export business, preferably in commodities, recyclables, or manufacturing.

• Strong business development skills with proven ability to penetrate and expand international markets.
• Demonstrated ability in financial management, negotiations, and stakeholder engagement.
• Membership of a recognized professional or trade body will be an added advantage.
