Job Description


The General Manager shall provide leadership for all aspects of the company’s operations with
an emphasis on long-term goals, growth, profit, and return on investment.

The GM shall oversee all operations and business activities to ensure they produce the desired
results and are consistent with the overall strategy and mission.

The GM shall develop and execute the company’s business strategies, provide strategic advice
to the board.

Knowledge in blasting and quarrying operations is an advantage

Knowledge of various minerals and mining laws is a plus
First AID/NEBOSH Certificate
A good level of understanding of quarrying environments and extraction systems Excellent communication and influencing skills
Capacity to make quick decisions and to “Think out of the Box”
Proficient in planning and executions of mineral exploring activities along with exploration team Well-versed with conducting project review meetings and taking adequate corrective actions as required
Proficient in designing and implementing policies, guidelines and procedures to establish high standards in environment, occupational health and safety management and production management
Commercial astuteness
Proficient in liaising with all local government departments
Analytical thinking and structured approach to assigned work
Good IT skills
Knowledge of health and safety issues and how they relate to practical working environments Flexible approach to work
Good business management skills Project manage skills
Leadership qualities and team-building skills Strong customer service skills

Combine the knowledge of extraction and processing systems with excellent interpersonal and management skills to ensure the profitability
Check that the quarry’s production levels are maintained safely to schedule
Controlling and supervising operations in the quarry Staff recruitment and training
Observing statutory regulations in accordance with policies and direction of management
Writing business development proposals and reports Liaise with sales and commercial teams
Provide company owner with information and statistics about quarry performance
Performance in managing the production process and setting and monitoring targets
Preparing, managing and monitoring the quarry’s budget Developing links with local groups and organizations Ensuring satisfactory production and safety of men and material
Developing inspection systems and checklists Ordering new items as required
Maintaining up-to-date records and dealing with a range of paperwork
Examining the materials produced to ensure that high quality of products is maintained
Ensuring all vehicles on site are maintained to industry standards

MBA/MSC in Business Earth Sciences/Administration/Project Management or related field
Managerial position in the quarry or mining industry Not less than seven (7) years of relevant working experience with at least five (5) years in management.
Must be a member of a recognized professional body.
