Job Description
A reputable public service organisation requires the services of a highly skilled, innovative and experienced professional to provide strategic leadership, technical and administrative direction for the achievement of its mandate.
The Role
• Serving as a primary point of contact, the role requires a blend of discretion, strong organisational abilities, technical and exceptional communication skills.
• The role is entrusted with the coordination of meetings, and the handling of sensitive and confidential information with discretion and serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the smooth operation of executive-level activities
• Acting as the linchpin that connects various departments and stakeholders, the Executive Secretary is integral to the effectiveness of leadership within the organisation and takes on responsibilities that require a deep understanding of the organisation’s operations and strategic objectives, with a focus on efficiency and the ability to anticipate executive needs
• Accordingly, the role is a sophisticated combination of administrative expertise, organisational skills and proactive problem-solving, aimed at enhancing executive efficiency
Qualification Required & Experience
• A minimum of a master’s degree from an accredited tertiary institution in the social sciences, business administration, public administration or a related field
• A minimum of 15 years post bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience, 5 years of which must be in a senior management position in a reputable institution
Required Competencies
• Excellent leadership, networking, monitoring and management skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills and the capacity to inspire and motivate
• Excellent negotiating, lobbying and resource mobilisation skills
• Conflict management skills
• Very good quantitative, qualitative and analytical skills
• Very good knowledge of labour laws and regulations
• Good knowledge of financial, procurement, budgeting and auditing regulations
• Proficiency in relevant computer applications
• High integrity, confidentiality, fair and firm
