Job Description


Job Profile: Webster University, a worldwide institution, ensures high quality learning experiences that transform students for global citizenship and individual excellence. The ESL Programme Coordinator will work in the Student Success Center to promote academic excellence and professional acumen among students at the University.

The role is part time with 18 hours per week (15 administration/coaching + 3 teaching).

Job location: East Legon, Accra

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the operations and testing, as well as be an instructor for courses coded ESLG on the program
  • Work as the academic coach to assist students with English language improvement, writing, career development and resume/cv preparation or general counselling concerns
  • Develop and oversee the planning and execution of the ‘internship for credit’ program for students
  • Manage attendance and evaluate student participation feedback on academic support and professional development workshops
  • Maintain regular communication with student tutees in the academic year by e-mail or at scheduled meetings to assess and support progression on their courses
  • Work closely with Student Affairs on student mental wellness
  • Participate in department and general meetings as required
  • Identify more opportunities for Webster University Ghana to engage the community both on and off campus

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • A Master’s in TESL, TEFL, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Linguistics or English with an emphasis in TESL/TEFL/TESOL. Qualification should be adult track, though exceptions can be given to instructors with K-12 of high school teaching degrees. Consideration will be given to an instructor actively enrolled in indicated areas and having completed 9 hours of graduate work in this area
  • At least three (3) years’ experience teaching ESL/EFL in a higher education setting
  • Outstanding organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to engage students using effective communication approaches
  • Relationship building and maintenance skills for partnership management
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Patience, tolerance, and cultural awareness
  • Personable and high interpersonal skills
  • Focused and results oriented
