• Conduct on-site detailed Engineering following inspections and data collection, analysis of issues/concerns, which then support project engineering activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives, technical excellence, and informed decision-making to support project success.

As Part of Our Team, You Will:

• Coordinate assigned engineering work packages for underground development and infrastructure, including interfaces with ventilation, dewatering and water services, electrical distribution, controls, communications, compressed air and other mine services.
• Review project drawings, specifications, design criteria and technical deliverables for alignment with approved scope, operating requirements, Newmont standards and applicable regulatory requirements, coordinate comments and closeout through the responsible engineer.
• Conduct regular underground and surface field inspections to verify safety, quality, progress and conformance with Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) drawings, specifications, permits, work methods and project requirements.
• Support project quality management by reviewing relevant ITPs, witnessing or verifying inspections and tests, recording deficiencies and non-conformances, and tracking technical corrective actions to closure.
• Monitor contractor technical performance against approved plans and short-term lookaheads, verify field quantities and reported progress, identify constraints or deviations, and provide evidence-based inputs for progress claims and contractor-performance reviews.
• Provide timely technical inputs to project controls, including verified progress, forecast requirements, schedule constraints, quantity changes, scope-change impacts, risks and opportunities, support corrective actions without assuming ownership of the project-control systems.
• Identify and assess engineering and execution risks, participate in hazard, design, constructability and operability reviews, verify assigned mitigation actions, and escalate issues affecting safety, design integrity, critical path or operational readiness.
• Support construction completion, commissioning readiness and handover through walkdowns, punch-list closeout, engineering clarifications, turnover dossiers, O&M/as-built documentation, operational acceptance and transfer of residual technical risks to Operations.

Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations): 

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or Civil Engineering.

Experience

• Minimum three (3) years of relevant engineering experience, preferably involving underground development, infrastructure, mine services or contractor-delivered projects.

Technical Skills

• Working knowledge of underground development cycles and service requirements, including ventilation, water/dewatering, power, communications, compressed air and mine-service interfaces.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, schedules and contractor submissions, and to use relevant design, modeling, document and database systems.
• Practical knowledge of field inspections, QA/QC, ITPs, RFIs/TQs, change control, redlines/as-builts, risk registers and technical reporting.
• Ability to assess field problems, develop practical options within delegated authority, and escalate matters requiring specialist or accountable-engineer decisions.
• Strong written and verbal communication, cross-disciplinary collaboration, accurate record keeping and willingness to stop unsafe work.
