Job Description
We are looking for a talented Engine Workshop Technician – Level II to join our team specializing in Service for our In Shop Department in Accra, Ghana.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Expert Diagnostics and Repairs: Your ability to complete diagnostics, repairs, and rebuilds on engine products ensures that engines run smoothly and efficiently, minimizing downtime for clients.
- Adherence to Procedures: By applying documented procedures and policies, you ensure that complex repairs are completed accurately and safely, maintaining high standards of quality.
- Engine Overhaul: Your skills in disassembling, inspecting, cleaning, and reassembling engines and components help extend the life of engine products and improve their performance.
- Preventative Maintenance: Performing preventative maintenance based on your assessments helps prevent major engine failures, saving time and costs for the workshop and clients.
- Team Support: Assisting more experienced technicians with diagnostics and repair plans fosters a collaborative environment and enhances the overall skill level of the team.
- Accurate Documentation: Completing required documentation accurately ensures that all work is tracked, warranties are honored, and quality standards are met, contributing to the workshop’s reputation.
- Continuous Learning: Engaging in ongoing training keeps your skills up-to-date with industry standards and business requirements, making you a valuable asset to the team.
- Safety and Cleanliness: Maintaining a clean and safe work area and adhering to Health, Safety & Environmental policies ensures a safe working environment for you and your colleagues, reducing the risk of accidents and incidents.
Responsibilities
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Strong Diagnostic Skills: The ability to translate customer complaints into effective troubleshooting plans, using mechanical and electronic service tools, and diagnostic software to isolate and resolve issues accurately.
- Comprehensive Understanding of Engine Systems: Knowledge of how internal and external electrical and mechanical systems interact, and the ability to use tools and service publications to diagnose and repair these systems efficiently.
- Proficiency in Product Repair and Maintenance: Skills in repairing and maintaining mechanical/electrical products, following guidelines to ensure quality repairs, and performing inspections and replacements to minimize costs and restore products to their pre-failure condition.
- Effective Technical Escalation: The capability to gather and utilize technical issue information, escalate complex problems appropriately, and document all troubleshooting steps to ensure accurate and timely resolution of customer issues.
Qualifications
Education/ Experience:
- Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
- Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
- Knowledge of Cummins engines would be an advantage.
- Locally valid driving permit
- Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
