THE GOVERNING COUNCIL OF CAPE COAST TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES THE EXECUTIVE SEARCH FOR HARDWORKING, RESOURCEFUL AND VISIONARY PERSONS FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS: B. DIRECTOR OF WORKS AND PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

The Position/Function:

The Director of Works and Physical Development shall:

• Supervises all works and contracts to ensure that construction and renovations are in consonance with prevailing industry standards and specifications
• Oversees the management of construction contracts with the view to ensuring compliance and due delivery of projects.
• Advises on the procurement of consultancy services relating to the provision of technical advice on construction in compliance with national laws and regulations.
• Responsible for management and maintenance of the building, roads, drains, parks, and gardens of the university and their designs and drawings.
• Advises on the management and control of land use.
• Advises the Vice-Chancellor and the University Council on matters of land and development.
• Provides architectural and engineering designs and bills of quantities for all university construction projects.
• perform any other official functions as may be assigned by the Registrar of the University

Terms of appointment

• The Director of Works and Physical Development shall hold office for an initial term of four (4) years. The appointment may be renewed upon application for another term only, subject to performance if that is not beyond the statutory retirement age of sixty (60) years.
• The terms and conditions of the appointment shall be determined by the Governing Council of the University consistent with the Technical Universities, Act 2016 (Act 922) as amended and the Statutes of Cape Coast Technical University.
• The salary and Conditions of Service attached to this position are very attractive and are comparable to those in analogous universities in Ghana.

The Person

He/She must:

• Have a minimum of research Masters’ Degree in Built Environment or relevant area of study PLUS relevant Professional Qualification.
• Must have served as Deputy Director of Works and Physical Development in a University or comparable grade in a similar institution/ organization for at least six (6) years.
• Must be computer literate.
• Demonstrate sound judgement, initiative, resourcefulness, precision and professionalism.
• Be able to provide sound advice to the Registrar on all issues affecting the Infrastructural and physical development of the University.

• Have wide experience in the management of physical facilities and procurement issues in construction.
• Be able to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

• Candidates are to submit an application letter and a statement of not more than 5 pages (Times New Roman, font size 12 and 1.5 line spacing) outlining their vision for the University and strategies for implementation and also prepare power point for presentation within 40 minutes.
