Job Description
We are an integrated agri-tech startup company working with smallholder farmers to increase their productivity and income by providing them with high-quality inputs, training and access to the market. Also digitizing the value chain to sustainably contribute to improving livelihoods. In addition, managing one of the largest maize farms in Ghana.
About Farmer’s Financing Division at Degas:
Farmer’s Financing Division at Degas empowers smallholder farmers by providing agri-inputs and training programs for free. Smallholder farmers make repayments through the delivery of portions of their outputs (e.g., maize and soybeans) and Degas consolidates the outputs and sells them to major off-takers.
Position Description:
- This is a mid-senior role within Degas’ Ghana Ltd. focusing on all aspects related to smallholder farmer financing
- Defining and leading the entire Farmer Financing mid and long-term strategies
- Support to make major corporate decisions and manage overall operations that would lead to exponential corporate value growth
Scope:
- Assist with the leading of the farmer’s financing business from designing strategy, setting goals, implementing operations and managing P/L
- Serve as the internal leader of the Operations of Degas Ghana Limited by leading as well as managing the departmental heads, providing a strong daily leadership presence
- Managing the team, leading the company expansion and optimizing the organization’s operational capabilities
- Planning and overseeing organization-wide initiatives, operations and administration
- Responsible for the development and implementation of performance measurements and evaluation systems that support the organizational goals by promoting a culture of high performance as well as continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality customer service
- Responsible for the development and monitoring of the annual operational plan and budget
- Manage profit as well as loss, identifying ways to control costs and increase profitability
- Responsible for finding, recruiting, and also developing leadership for the ongoing growth of the company
- Oversee the mergers and acquisitions growth of the organization to strategically align it with the overall objectives of the company
- Ensure overall compliance with the country’s regulations and enhance a strong culture of ethical behaviour
Required Skill
- Bachelor Degree
- 5+ years of experience in project management and/or business development roles in agriculture-related business or tech startups
- Experience in international companies is a plus
- Experience in data analysis is also a plus
