Job Description


A reputable public service organization invites applications from eligible individuals for the following position: Deputy Director, Licensing and Registration (Head of Region – Western and Northern)

Job Purpose

• To provide technical and operational support in standards and compliance for the achievement of the mandate of the organization

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides input for the formulation of policies of the organization
• Supervises the development and review of standards, guidelines, processes and procedures for licensing and registration
• Supervises the development of a comprehensive database on the programmes and activities of the department
• Supervises field inspection of teacher training facilities and service providers
• Collaborate closely with officers, departments and other stakeholders in the implementation of programmes and activities of the department
• Supervises the development of annual work plans for the department
• Supervises the preparation of the budgets of the department
• Supervises the preparation of annual and other periodic reports of the department
• Supervises and appraises the performance of subordinate staff in the department

Qualification Required & Experience

• A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Education or any related field from an accredited tertiary institution
• A minimum of 8 years post-qualification relevant work experience, 4 years of which must be in a Senior management position in a reputable institution
• Must pass a competitive selection interview

• Excellent leadership, networking, monitoring and management skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
• Extensive knowledge and experience in managing training programmes
• Very good negotiating, lobbying, diplomacy and conflict management
• Excellent qualitative, quantitative and analytical skills
• Very good capacity to inspire and motivate
• Excellent knowledge and experience in teacher standards development and guidelines
• Extensive knowledge in education and other related fields
• Very good knowledge of public financial management laws and regulations
• Knowledge in relevant IT applications
