Job Description


AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited, Obuasi Gold Mine is currently near completion of the redevelopment phase to become a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation has been fully mechanized and designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

 

We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as a Contracts Officer.

 

ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

The Role holder will provide on-going support to the Obuasi Redevelopment Project in terms of procurement of goods, services & commodities and in the process ensure value for money while exhibiting a trustworthy attitude and a high level of integrity.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

  • Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution.
  • Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time.
  • Act on all corrective actions assigned to you or under your jurisdiction and ensure timely completion.
  • Comply with AGAG Environmental Management, compliance and other legal requirements.
  • Take action to prevent environmental pollution
  • Correct, or report to their supervisor, any observed environmental deviations, practices and conditions as well make suggestions to improve any aspect of environmental management.
  • Follow the established procedures if incident occur by reporting to the Supervisor.
  • Execute established processes, standards and procedures for the creation of purchase requisitions goods, works and services in full compliance with company’s acquisition policy.
  • Responsible for issuing request for quotations and proposals to qualified vendors based on purchase requisitions assigned, answering queries, bid evaluation, negotiations.
  • Ensure all bidding lists are properly approved by supervisor before issuing to the market.
  • Execute the RFQ process in line with approved procedures to complete the PR-PO cycle.
  • Perform tender adjudication, employing the use of only approved bid evaluation templates
  • Establish and maintain good but professional and ethical working relationships with vendors and internal user departments of the mine, providing the necessary support and communicating procurement policies, standards and procedures as appropriate.
  • Resolve all vendor complaints and escalate all disputes to supervisor.
  • Support AGAG’s supplier development and local procurement policies and strategies.

 

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

Qualification

  • Minimum of HND /Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement & Supply, Economics, Commerce or Supply Chain management will be an advantage.

Experience 

  • At least Three (3) years’ experience working in a supply chain environment.

 

Technical Competencies

  • Familiarity with SAP ERP system or equivalent ERP application
