Key Responsibilities

Programmed/Project Implementation and Quality Assurance

Ensure CESP activities (Sponsorship, Child Protection & Faith & development) are implemented according to the standards and targets set for the year.

Sponsorship In Programming: Ensure staff and Community Partners understand and implement the basic approach of Sponsorship in Programming, and how communities can be transformed through the two essentials (Community-led care & protection, Children’s participation and voice).

Ensure regular monitoring of children is done at the AP level according to the WV standards and regularly discuss the results with partners and program staff.

Ensure quality communication between child, family, sponsor, Support Office, Global Center and that all sponsorship business processes, including Sponsorship Operation Indicators (such as Introductory Letters, Sponsor Letters, Annual Progress Reports, Support Office Queries, Gift Notifications, Christmas cards, Planned RC Budget Level), Sponsorship 2.0 Child and Community Contents and New Initiatives respect WV standards at the AP level.

Ensure the timely communication (Horizon Hope application, phone call and e-mail) of RC Deaths, respecting all protocols, for better accountability to sponsors.

Lead the implementation of additional Sponsorship Funds such as Birthday Bounceback, Community Gift and New Year Gift kit in the Area Program. Participate in the Most Vulnerable children mapping and monitoring processes in communities to ensure the participation of children (including RC and the most vulnerable) and their families in Project Implementation activities.

Ensure the upgrade of all Horizon Mobile devices within the AP and ensure the most recent version of the APK installed is installed.

Lead the integration of Faith and Development core project models (Channels of Hope-Child Protection, Celebrating Families Curriculum, and Empowered World View (for Children) into project implementation within the CESP, for improved wellbeing of children.

Support the facilitation of inter-faith dialogues among community members to appreciate the need for peaceful co-existence.

Lead the implementation of effective spiritual nurture of children and youth, through Child Clubs in alignment with CWBT.

Provide leadership in ensuring appropriate, safe, and meaningful participation of children throughout the project lifecycle and decision-making opportunities inside and outside of WV processes at the area programme level In emergency or Response situations happening within the area programme, coordinate CP in emergencies programming, implementation, budget, and quality assurance; share programming data and experiences in the form of reports to grant acquisition staff to secure funding

Support the formation of a local CP&A group comprised of informal and formal CP actors in the community; coach CP&A group members to foster genuine ownership of group action plans for sustainability and facilitate the group development of shared action plan to address violence against children

Monitor CP&A group functioning, implementation, and organizational capacity Coordinate and support the establishment and operations of effective community complaints, reporting and referral mechanisms in the cluster (Area programmes).

Coordinate and ensure successful implementation of ITAW/EVAC campaigns in the Area Program. Coordinate and report CVA-CP activities of the AP Safeguarding: Report adult and child safeguarding incidents, implement the office’s Safeguarding Incident Preparedness Plans and train partners and volunteers on Safeguarding policies, procedures, behaviours, and reporting protocols

Risk Management

Strengthen Sponsorship Risk Management and facilitate proper management and the implementation of AP Sponsorship Audit Recommendations as well as issues raised in evaluation reports.

Ensure that all child protection and Safe guarding provisions are enforced during Sponsorship Business Processes and protecting children through the implementation of a Child Protection in communications, digital technology and Social media policy

Support in identifying, assessing and managing risk in all Sponsorship Business processes and initiatives (media, social media) for child protection.

Community Engagement

  • Engage and educate communities, community leaders, and volunteers on sponsorship and transformational development , Child Sponsorship standards and programming to improve child well being
  • Engage with District Assembly and other decentralized departments on Child Sponsorship standards and programming

Capacity Building

  • Provide training and coaching support to AP staff, services personnel and local partners involved in the process of technical and operational management of sponsorship.
  • Provide training and coaching to Child Welfare Supervisors on Sponsorship Management within the AP
  • Collaborate with the Faith and Development Coordinators in training of caregivers, faith communities and the Local Council of Churches who (LCC) on SNC related activities as well as periodic refresher training to update them on emerging trends in children’s ministry.

Advocacy, External Engagement and Partnering

  • Establish effective partnerships with local CP stakeholders, networks, coalitions, working groups, and local government representatives to understand the functionality of the CP System and to form/strengthen the local CP&A group
  • Represent World Vision as needed in local area programme CP networks, coalitions, or government-led CP spaces to promote evidenced-based CP interventions and advance a systems strengthening approach to child protection
  • Establish effective working relationships with local faith leaders and communities (from a variety of faith backgrounds if applicable) to promote child protection initiatives, positive parenting techniques, and invite to be part of the CP&A group to address violence against children issues
  • If needed in emergency and Response situations, participate actively and regularly in the local CP network to coordinate World Vision’s CP work alongside other humanitarian actors

  • Establish effective partnerships with local CP stakeholders, networks, coalitions, working groups, and local government representatives to understand the functionality of the CP System and to form/strengthen the local CP&A group
  • Represent World Vision as needed in local area programme CP networks, coalitions, or government-led CP spaces to promote evidenced-based CP interventions and advance a systems strengthening approach to child protection
  • Establish effective working relationships with local faith leaders and communities (from a variety of faith backgrounds if applicable) to promote child protection initiatives, positive parenting techniques, and invite to be part of the CP&A group to address violence against children issues
  • If needed in emergency and Response situations, participate actively and regularly in the local CP network to coordinate World Vision’s CP work alongside other humanitarian actors

Reporting, Learning and Knowledge Management

Report monthly to the cluster manager, Sponsorship manager, Child Protection manager and Faith and Development Manager, on the implementation of the CESP in the AP accordingly to the agreed timeline and format. Ensure timely submission of high quality Annual, Semi-annually and Quarterly reports on the CESP. Seek out and document lessons learned and best practise from project activities in Sponsorship, Faith & Development and Child Protection in the Area Programme. Facilitate regular reflection and learning activities with CP staff, volunteers and the local CP&A group to reflect on implementation and make adaptations as needed Incorporate children’s feedback on programme activities into knowledge sharing sessions and debrief with children’s groups to let them know how their opinions have affected implementation

Other Responsibilities

Perform other tasks as required by management.

Knowledge and Qualification for the role

  • Good development and facilitation skills, including connecting, and building the capacity of community groups/ partners.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good understanding of WV sponsorship, tools, protocols and standards
  • Good understanding of Children’s right to protection and participation
  • Good understanding of Faith and Development
  • Demonstrate commitment to the empowerment of the poor in rural communities.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff and key partners.
  • Experience in community entry and mobilization and development facilitation.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office, MS Outlook, etc.
  • Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Bachelor’s degree in management or a social science field preferred, or high school graduate with 2 years’ experience in development work or University Diploma with 4 years’ experience

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.

Knowledge of sponsorship systems and processes. Knowledge and practical skills in working with children with basic understanding of Child Protection and Advocacy, Faith and Dvelopment. Knowledge of community development and engagement.
