Job Description


The Centre for Local Governance Advocacy (CLGA) is seeking to recruit Communication and Media Relations Officer.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the communication strategy for the PFMCLT ensuring all messaging is consistent, clear and aligns with the overall objectives of the project.
• Lead the efforts to disseminate information regarding the PFMCLT results. This includes preparing detailed reports, summaries and other relevant materials that communicate the key outcomes of the PFMCLT assessments
• Organise and manage engagements with the media to discuss and publicize PFMCLT results. This involves coordinating press conferences, media briefings and interviews
• Act as the primary liaison between the organisation and the media, fostering strong relationships with journalists and media houses. Respond promptly to media inquiries, providing accurate information on PFMCLT matters
• Prepare a wide range of media-related documents, including press releases, media kits and public statements, tailored to the needs of different audiences. Ensure that all content is crafted to engage the public and promote a better understanding of the PFMCLT results and their implications
• Coordinate the dissemination fo the MMDAs reports through townhall meetings, ensuring that the findings are communicated effectively to stakeholders. This includes organising events, managing logistics and facilitating discussions during these meetings
• Engage with various media platforms, including radio stations, TV channels, print and online media to broadcast the PRMCLT results. Develop tailored messaging for each platform to ensure broad and effective outreach, reaching audiences through the most appropriate channels
• Perform any other tasks as assigned

Qualification Required & Experience

• Master’s Degree in a relevant field of communication and media relations
• A member in good standing with a professional body in communication and media relations
• At least 6 years of post-qualification relevant experience in related activities
• Must not be above 35 years
• Strong leadership skills with demonstrated experience managing teams
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
