About The Assistant Floor Manager: We’re currently seeking an individual with significant experience in a supervisory or managerial role at a food processing plant or other manufacturing environment where health and safety protocols are paramount to join our Material Research and Development team (MRD). The individual will help lead daily operations of The Or Foundation’s textile waste transformation efforts, managing material collection, sorting and process flow. As a line manager position supporting a growing team, the Assistant Floor Manager will be responsible for safe and efficient work across teams and for designing and implementing protocols that correspond to The Or Foundation’s rigorous commitment to creativity and community service, while working to develop transferable skills among our internal team and community apprentices.
Enforce all health and safety rules within The Or Foundation’s Material Research and Development operations.
Coordinate across teams to ensure efficient operations by synchronizing schedules, production targets and relevant processes, from material sourcing and throughput needs to machinery maintenance and material storage arrangements.
Assist with the implementation of project management frameworks to maintain deadlines within complex workflows.
Manage tool, equipment, and consumables inventory systems.
Manage facilities recordkeeping systems.
Manage material collection and processing records.
Manage equipment maintenance schedules and planning.
Operate machinery and equipment when necessary.
Support the development and implementation of quality control procedures and inspections.
Support reporting team members and other organizational managers to work with contractors, utilities suppliers and landlords to ensure operational uptime.
Liaise with community partners across both informal and formal sectors to facilitate material sourcing and community engagement with our design processes as a core function of The Or Foundation’s mission.
Maintain familiarity with The Or Foundation’s holistic work and serve as a consistent frontline manager to help troubleshoot MRD operational bottlenecks.
Train team members in project management and material throughput and planning.
Prepare budgets and manage working schedules across teams.
Serve as professional representative of The Or Foundation in all relevant matters including with media and guests.
