General Overview

Our Client is one of Ghana’s commercial banks with the aim of providing distinctive entrepreneurial and innovative banking solutions to all its clients. The bank seeks to fill into the position of a Deputy Head, Legal with a highly motivated professional who has passion for achieving results through strategic leadership.

Job Location


  1. Review and provide legal advice on tender documents.
  2. Ensure security of the company’s legal documents.
  3. Manage and ensure completion on  Secretarial issues and tasks, identified projects, extending to disposals, acquisitions and other corporate transactions as well as internal reorganisations, capitalisations, dissolutions and liquidations, liaising with external legal advisers as appropriate.
  4. Prepare draft documentation for business transactions and advise on the necessary checklist to be adopted to ensure information is submitted on time.
  5. Review and draft contracts, agreements and internal policies and ensure that they are in compliance with all statutory or legal requirements.
  6. Review and advise management on legal implications of internal policies and procedures.
  7. Review all contracts or any other documentation where the Company has committed itself and assess legal implications that need to be brought to the executive management’s attention.
  8. Liaise with relevant departments to ensure that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate courses of action have been taken.
  9. Prepare and review contractual instruments to assist and support various business activities.
  10. Provide support on governance issues, and determine developments in corporate governance based on impact  including managing regular Board and Committee effectiveness reviews
  11. Manage timely distribution of Board papers and other relevant documents.
  12. Support the management of risks and controls within  Secretarial team.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.


  1. A University degree in Law.
  2. Professional qualification is an advantage.
  3. Minimum of 6 years working experience with at least 2 years in supervisory level and a minimum of 6 years at the bar.
