Job Title: Principal Development Geophysicist
Reports to Development Geophysics Team Lead
Department: Subsurface – Jubilee, TEN (Post First Oil)

Job Purpose: Senior technical member of sub-surface team responsible for building and updating reservoir models, planning field development activities, planning & monitoring  operational activities across Ghana assets.

Interpretation and integration of all geophysical data acquired to provide relevant inputs to reservoir models, sub-surface evaluations and planning activities.

Implement robust methods for seismic inputs to reservoir models, including 4D datasets.

Present results internally to management and externally to partners and Ghana authorities

Help build and maintain accurate and comprehensive databases of data gathered in conjunction with geoscience team members.

Ensure all work is carried out to appropriate standards and in accordance with Tullow internal processes

Contribute to  training and mentoring of junior staff and secondees

Responsibilities / Key Objectives: Perform geophysical activities within the Ghana subsurface team.

Responsible for seismic evaluations, including 4D interpretation and structural model builds for input to reservoir modeling.

Work with team geoscientists and PE’s to create representative suite of static models for history matching and forecasting, and for input to reserve evaluation.

Evaluate and communicate geophysical uncertainties feeding into additional data acquisition plans and capture in uncertainty analysis and reservoir modelling.

Input to quantitative model conditioning and rock physics analyses

Input to seismic acquisition and processing decisions, in liaison with Dublin GTO.

Prepare supporting documentation on infill or further development opportunities, including presentations, well proposals, and well diaries as required.

Align technical activities with business objectives to ensure timely delivery of fit for purpose solutions.

Present recommendations to management, peer reviews and partners.

Mentor Junior and Graduate Geoscientists as required.

Reinforce best practices and developed creative, fit for purpose solutions in geophysical techniques.

Provide technical guidance and assistance to other teams within  Tullow, as required.

Person Specification

Education: MSc. level or equivalent

 

Skills: Function expert with broad extensive knowledge of the theories and practices within own discipline and across related disciplines, built through in-depth experience on numerous projects, and across wide variety of geographical and geological provinces. 

Knowledge of a range of structural regimes and depositional environments.

Extnsive petroleum geoscience experience, including oil field development planning.

Experience of international environments

Highly skilled user of Petrel and associated software tools.

 

Geophysics experience across a range of field development projects

 

Seismic interpretation, quantitative seismic analysis, rock physics, structural model building and reservoir model conditioning.

 

Strong operational planning skills and experience.
