Job description

The Purpose of this role is to facilitate insurance sales in Standard Chartered Bank. The role entails :

  • Identifying insurance opportunities in the SCB client portfolio
  • Meeting and making proposals to clients for insurance
  • Support branch staff and other frontline with product knowledge
  • Organizing market activations
  • Managing insurance sales agents within a specified catchment area

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Sales Management
Recommend and decide appropriate sales distribution and delivery channels
Sales promotion management
Sales activation across Job families
Manage sales productivity including one-on – one meetings
Establish a comprehensive sales process for products and services and guide its implementation across all segments and branches
Support product development & deployment of appropriate systems and procedures to support sales and service for Banca.

Portfolio Management
Proper tracking of Bancassurance Products sales (volume/revenue) and Wealth Management to ascertain quality, growth trends etc across the cluster.
Proper management of Banca compliance processes that guide sales processes and product management to mitigate mis-selling and ensure TCF applies

Marketing Management
Help plan and implement marketing strategies to acquire, expand and retain profitable relationships and grow market share
Identify target customers’ financial, insurance and service needs: review,
recommend and implement products / service offering in liaison with Product Manager.

People Management
Provide assistance in directing, motivating, training and coaching sales distribution / delivery staff
Manage sales teams in all sales channels with special emphasis on DSFs, to deliver Banca solutions

Risk Management and Control
Ensure internal controls are in place, monitor for compliance, review for changes in systems, policies & regulations
Fully comply with all policies, procedures, Key Control Standards to achieve satisfactory audit grades in local & Group audits
KYC / money laundering: Ensure you remain alert to the risk of money laundering and assist in the Bank’s efforts in combating it by adhering to the key principle s in relation to:
identifying your customer, knowing your customer, reporting suspicious transactions, safeguarding records and not disclosing suspicions to customers.

Be responsible for undertaking the business monitoring and testing and reporting findings, exceptions and results of such monitoring and testing activities
Will support the Business head and Business unit head in driving Operational Risk (OR) management and compliance effort at the business and unit level respectively
Will initiate and coordinate efforts in implementing new regulatory and internal policy requirements
Responsible for ensuring the quality of ongoing monitoring and issue resolution
Responsible for ensuring the quality of ongoing business monitoring and integrity of OR related data
Will track and follow up on OR exceptions and issue resolution

Qualifications and Skills

A minimum of first degree or its equivalent
High marketing/salesproficiency.
Working knowledge and experience in selling insurance products
Strong presentation, negotiation and influencing skills
Strong interpersonal/communication skills.
Ability to plan daily/periodic operations.
Familiar with computer processing/applications.
