  • School-to-School lnternational (STS) is a non-governmental organisation based in the United States. STS is recruiting a National Math Pilot Coordinator for USAID’s Ghana Learning Project (Learning), implemented by FHI 360 with support from STS and its partners. The National Math Pilot Coordinator will be based in Ghana and will oversee a numeracy pilot that will test effective mathematics practices in the Ghanaian context.
  • The National Math Pilot Coordinator will coordinate and collaborate with FH1360, GES/MOE and other partners on the development of a number of innovative approaches to teaching mathematics in primary school. Activities will include supporting the numeracy materials review, development of numeracy approaches, and overseeing the implementation and testing of these approaches from the prototype to full pilot stage.
  • The National Math Pilot Coordinator will work on a full-time basis with the project. S/he will organise and coordinate trainings, support and advise on the design, management and implementation of the math pilot, ensure quality control, as well as collaborate with other project components, such as curriculum reform, teacher training and materials development.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with STS project staff and consultants, FHI360, the GES/MOE, the three autonomous boards, (NCCA, NTC, and NIB) and relevant working groups to ensure quality, compliant, and timely execution of all agreed upon math pi lot activities and deliverables.
  • Contribute to development and quality assurance of project technical work such as work plans, timelines and report writing.
  • Monitor and support implementation of math pilot activities and formative evaluations providing regular and timely communication with STS Programme Manager on progress, strengths and challenges of implementation on the ground as well as providing recommendations for course corrections as needed.
  • Track a timeline of activities to ensure compliance with the approved schedule and completion of activities, reporting on and troubleshooting any challenges or delays in implementation or evaluations of the pilot.
  • Provide oversight and maintain fidelity of implementation, especially in regards to teacher training activities.
  • Coordinate with Social Impact on design and implementation of external impact evaluation.

Required Skills or Experience

  • At least a bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) from an accredited university in education, mathematics, research methods, evaluation, education research or other related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in education, curriculum, teacher training and/or educational research and assessments.
  • Experience in programme management with technical focus on curriculum and training is required- preferred experience in assessment and/or mathematics.
  • Prior working experience with teachers, the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service (GES) or the three autonomous boards, (NCCA, NTC, and NIB) preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience in employing best practices in curriculum, teacher training and professional development.
  • Knowledge of and experience in implementing education programming in Ghana, with demonstrated experience in monitoring and evaluating of education programmes and projects preferred.
  • Demonstrated exemplary diplomatic management and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated success in capacity building of staff and government counterparts.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to -develop relations with government counterparts, donors, and other stakeholders
  • Experience with USAID indicators and meeting reporting requirements, preferred.
  • Excellent language, writing, and presentation skills in English;
  • Strong knowledge of data and data processing.
