A reputable financial institution is seeking to hire a young and dynamic individual to fill its SME Manager role

JOB PURPOSE:      

To provide high quality credit and transformational services to SME clients and also to assist the Branch Manager in ensuring that financial and operational performance targets for the SME Loan product is achieved in line with corporate goals and objectives. The role is also meant to provide opportunity to give SME loans from the Institution

REQUIRED OUTPUTS:

  • Book Loans.>30,000.00
  • Refer Loans<30,000.00 to Individual Relationship Officer
  • Target number of Clients, Portfolio value and PAR rates for 1,15,30 and 120+ days are achieved
  • Generate quality and timely reports
  • High retention of clients and quick re-loan process

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Credit

  • Manages and oversees SME loans in the branch through evaluating, monitoring and controlling SME loans performance in accordance with agreed performance targets and takes corrective actions to close performance gaps.
  • Generates and review e-merge (software) reports on portfolio performance on daily basis
  • Reviews all SME loan applications to ensure they conform to lending principles
  • Conducts field verification of information provided by prospective clients as part of loan review process
  • Monitors the repayment of loans by clients and manages delinquent by tracking defaulting clients
  • Conducts area surveys to identify potential areas and promote our products ranging from credit, deposits and e-business for customers
  • Ensures that all reports are submitted on time
  • Performs pre-qualification assessment, analysis of financial condition and risk of financing requests within framework of the institution’s credit culture and current economic and industry trends
  • Gathers and analyses information to present financing request to Branch Manager for approval after meeting with customers; visiting sites of loans; negotiating loan terms and conditions.
  • Coordinates processing of approved loans; ensures loans are processed according to agreement, customer needs and conform to the institution’s lending policies
  • Develops and services comprehensive personal financial relationships within target market through a professional sales effort.
  • Identifies qualified potential clients, and initiates contacts, assesses needs, presents array of products and services
  • Responsible for the management and total servicing of the client relationship, and for the growth and profitability of largest, most complex and profitable relationships
  • Proactively advises and consults with clients to maximize their service usage, trust and investment opportunities, and monitors client portfolio to ensure profitability
  • Responsible for analysing clients’ credit needs and investigating and verifying financial status and reputation of prospective loan applicant, preparing documents to substantiate findings, and then making appropriate recommendations.
  • Establishes credit limitations on customer accounts and handles special credit arrangements and deviations from standard terms of payment
  • Handles Customer’s complaints and seeks to solve such complaints.in a timely manner.
  • Submits delinquent accounts to the Recovery Department for collection
  • Assists Branch Manager to motivate, develop and discipline staff at the branch level
  • Ensures that credit inquiries are researched to determine credit worthiness to ensure 100% loan recovery
  • Meetings with potential clients and communicate bank products, services, credit policies and procedures and conduct surprise visits to central meetings to ensure that requirement such as physical set-up and attendance are followed

Ensures that the Data Unit captures clients’ information accurately and also ensures 100% repayment and compliance with credit policies and procedures.

Ensure that all clients information capture by Data Unit and which forms part of loan portfolio is accurate and conform to client loan forms and terms of approval of the approving authority.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Qualification

  • A Bachelor’s degree preferably in Administration or any of the courses in the Humanities
  • A minimum of 4 years direct work experience in commercial lending.
  • Competent knowledge of personal and business financial state87ments and tax returns.
  • Proficient understanding of the institution’s products and services as it related to the target market including loan policies and procedures, related back office operations and investment

  • Strong sales and service orientation.
  • Ability to identify client needs and related services; through selling the concept of relationship banking.
  • Ability to prospect, anticipate needs and close sales deals through; communicating effectively with clients of varying levels of business and financial sophistication.
  • Strong relationship management with external clients and internal partners
  • Demonstration of excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills
  • Strong analytical, organisational and decision making capacity and the ability to set and communicate objectives and targets, prioritise tasks, and ensure their execution, resilience and motivational skill is required.
  • Sound judgment and problem solving skills
  • The capacity to work simultaneously on multiple operational tasks, to achieve set targets, and obtain successful results
  • Highly versatile and sufficiently discerning personality to be effective across diverse cultures, including the ability to communicate complex technical issues to clients and prospective clients
  • Ability to command the trust and respect of peers and clients within and external to the banking industry.
