A sole representative of leading manufacturers of heavy-duty equipment and trucks in Ghana is looking for highly qualified and motivated persons for the position of:

JOB TITLE:             SALES & MARKETING MANAGER

(HEAVY DUTY EQUIPMENT/LUBRICANTS)

        

JOB PURPOSE

To develop and lead strategy and drive sales for profitability

REPORTS TO:        General Manager – Sales and Marketing

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive the entire sales and marketing department
  • Generate sales leads and assign follow up duties to other sales officers
  • Lead a team of sales and marketing executives to ensure a continuous flow of sales orders from various clients.
  • Listen to customer requirements and present appropriately to make a sale.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with existing customers in person and via telephone calls and emails.
  • Arrange meetings with potential customers to prospect for new business.
  • Act as a contact between the company and its existing and potential markets.
  • Negotiate the terms of an agreement and closing sales.
  • Gather market and customer information.
  • Represent the company at trade exhibitions, events, and
  • Advise on forthcoming product developments and discuss special promotions.
  • Liaise with the production unit to check the progress of existing orders.
  • Record sales, order information, and send copies to the sales office, or entering figures into a computer system.
  • Send daily, weekly and monthly reports to management
  • Review sales performance, aiming to meet or exceed targets.
  • Gain a clear understanding of customers’ businesses and requirements.
  • Make accurate, rapid cost calculations and provide customers with quotations.
  • Feed future buying trends back to the employer.
  • Attend team/Group meetings and share best practices with colleagues.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

 

  • In-depth knowledge in the heavy equipment and industrial equipment market
  • Proven knowledge, ability to think strategically, and thorough understanding of business strategic
  • Ability to articulate, package, sell products/initiatives and clinch deals.
  • Entrepreneurial drive, passion and ability to help shape the organization’s marketing and communication strategy.
  • Considerable knowledge/understanding of market segmentation, value propositions, and customer profiles.
  • High ability to develop fresh approaches and innovations as appropriate.
  • Strong ability to track budget expenses/pricing, forecast sales and generate revenue.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of accounting practices as applied to sales procedures.
  • Excellent knowledge of marketing and branding activities.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a target driven environment.
  • Ability to build professional relationships relevant to the development of business potential /partnerships.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent customer/client focus.
  • Consultative approach and ability to influence others to support business objectives.
  • Good sound decision making based on thorough analysis.
  • Good managerial, coaching and interpersonal skills in a “team” setting.
  • Capable of working with different heads in different fields.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • A good first degree in marketing plus professional membership ie CIMG
  • MBA in Sales & Marking / Project Management would be an added advantage
  • Eight years post qualification and industrial experience with three years in a senior sales/marketing (in the sale of Heavy Duty Equipment/automobile) role with proven results.
