JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI), a leader in global health, is currently recruiting for Capacity Building Advisors for the recentlyawarded USAID-funded five year Strengthening the Care Continuum Project in Ghana. The overall goal of the project is to improve the capacity of the Government of Ghana (GOG) and its partners to provide quality and comprehensive HIV services for key populations and people living with HIV/AIDS using a coordinated and sustainable approach.  S/he will report to the Institutional and Technical Strengthening Advisor of Care Continuum Team and work closely with NGO and CSO partners.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Capacity Building Advisor will assist the Institutional and Technical Strengthening Advisor of the Care Continuum Team. The Capacity Building Advisor is a specialist who will provide technical and operational support to CSO partners affiliated with the project. The Advisor will focus on essential capacity building areas identified, which may include but will not be limited to monitoring and evaluation, technical services for key populations (KPs), and compliance-related areas essential for institutional sustainability. The Capacity Building Advisor may spend a portion of their time sitting in a CSO Office, working directly with the CSO’s team. Tasks include:

  • Work in collaboration with the partner NGOs and CSOs in identifying the institutional and technical capacity building needs;
  • Collaborate with a team of 10 Care Continuum project Capacity Building Advisors, coordinating capacity building strategies and implementation across CSOs;
  • Provide direct support to CSOs  in the area of technical and operational development;
  • Work with stakeholders, including partnering NGOs and CSOs, to coordinate the development and implementation of cohesive capacity building strategies;
  • Relay key project information between the Care Continuum project team and the collaborating CSOs;
  • Develop training curricula and other learning resources;
  • Implement the project’s capacity building strategy in line with the project’s goal of policy, advocacy, leadership, governance and service delivery;
  • Collaborate with the project team, specifically the Care Continuum Team, and partnering organizations to achieve key project objectives;
  • Support the development of project technical reports as needed.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Business, Economics, or related field.
  • Minimum of 6-10 years of capacity building experience with local CSOs and NGOs.
  • Extensive experience implementing and supporting capacity development programs; preference for experience in HIV/AIDS.
  • Experience working with and supporting a wide range of HIV and AIDS projects and programs, such as combination prevention, PMTCT, and VMMC.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, writing and presentation skills.
  • Fluency in English language.
