Job Description

Position Summary

IPA Ghana seeks the services of an experienced Information Technology Assistant to support its operations in the Accra office.  The IT Assistant maintains the computer systems of the organization, tablets and devices to ensuring that they run smoothly and providing technical support and advice to computer users and management.

Main duties include the following:

Internet Connectivity

  • Liaising with internet service providers to ensure constant supply of internet to the office
  • Planning and ensuring adequacy of the internet back up plan for the office
  • Periodically reviewing staff internet usage and providing feedback to inform management decision.
  • Lead IT on-boarding process for newly recruited staff

Inventory Management & Data Security

  • Support procurement of IT related equipment
  • Manage IT inventory and cross-project IT equipment rentals, monitor optimize the use of IT equipment across projects
    • Installation security and tracking applications on official tablets and phones,
    • Repairing equipment and replacing parts
    • Managing stocks of equipment, consumables and other IT supplies.

Other Applications

  • Installing and configuring computer and other hardware, software, antivirus, systems, networks, printers and scanners
  • Email, box, chatter, skype account set up
  • Investigating, diagnosing and solving computer software and hardware faults
  • Periodic specific reports (print bills, inter-project rental management)
  • Obtaining replacement or specialist components, fixtures or fittings
  • Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance upgrades
  • Ensuring proper data back up and security across the organization, including email reminders to staff, and short trainings, installation/reinstallation of antivirus etc. and monitoring for staff


Required Skills or Experience

General Qualification and Requirements:
  • A degree in IT or its equivalent.
  • IT troubleshooting skills

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Technical  IT skills, Strong multitasking and organizational skills
  • Interpersonal and communication skills, enthusiasm for playing a support role
  • A meticulous and methodical nature. Experience in managing inventory is a plus
  • A logical as well as creative mind
  • Capable of working well under pressure
  • Ability to be proactive and work independently
  • Enthusiasm to be continually learning
