Job Profile The Transforming Teacher Education and Learning (T-TEL) project is a DFID-funded programme, managed by Cambridge Education, which seeks to transform the delivery of Pre-service Teacher education in Ghana by improving the quality of teaching and learning through support to 38 Colleges of Education.

The finance officer provides financial support to the Ghana Branch by preparing and recording financial transactions thoroughly and promptly, and to ensure timely accurate reporting to Head Office and stakeholders Job Description You will be responsible for:

  • Prepare payment vouchers and carry out appropriate checks on supporting documentation
  • Process staff claims and prepare payments to suppliers and service providers
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly payroll
  • Manage petty cash payments, controls and procedures, including preparation of the monthly cash counts
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are recorded in the account ing system in a timely manner in order to ensure the accuracy of the financial reports of HQ
  • Ensure returns from sub-offices are received and properly coded to be entered into the TTEL accounting system
  • Assist in the closing of monthly accounts and preparation of financial reports, including bank reconciliation statements, for submission to Headquarters
  • Maintain a database of accounting documents, in both electronic and hard copy
  • Assist with the monitoring of expenditures to ensure they remain within authorized/budgeted levels
  • Provide financial accounting support to project staff during workshops and meetings
  • Ensure safe guarding of all project funds.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the finance manager Candidate Specification Required Skills or Experience
  • Minimum of First Degree in Accounting
  • Relevant working experience(Experience with a DFID/USAID project is an advantage) Critical Competencies
  • A good knowledge of maintaining accounting records and procedures
  • Be a competent user of excel and have good general computer skills
  • Have strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Have the ability to pay attention to detail
  • Have a very high sense of responsibility and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills/team player
  • Have a dependable character
  • Be transparent and honest
  • Able to work above contracted hours where there is a business need. Languages
