CONTEXTGuinness Ghana Breweries Limited (GGBL) is a leading brewer and marketer of premium alcoholic and malt drinks in Ghana. GGBL operates from two sites in five drinks categories: Beer, Ready To Drink (RTD), Malt and Mainstream Spirits as well as the distribution of Premium Spirits.Guinness Ghana is Ghana’s leading Beverage BusinessThe Head of Commercial Finance will act as a business partner to the demand and supply functions generating robust financial and evaluation models on key initiatives and capital investments and generating robust financial justifications on key commercial activities and initiatives.Ghana is a multi-brand market operating in a volatile economic environment.The market has responsibility for both the Demand and Supply functions.The listing on the local Stock exchange brings added complexity.Uses SAP SBM with the Africa Shared Service Centre (ABSC), based in Kenya, supporting the RTR and PTP business functions.This role operates in the GGBL markets context and has significant impact on the business requiring self-drive, management and dealing with high levels of uncertainty.PURPOSE

  • Key support role to Finance Director. Maintains the highest standards of planning, reporting, performance & process management.
  • To drive key decision support initiatives and work alongside project teams to develop financial models/insights on the highest value priorities that will deliver business growth
  • To partner the Commercial team to deliver returns on our investments


  • Tertiary degree level/ MBA
  • Pro-active and forward thinking candidate with strong business partnering skills, an analytical mind and the ability to implement decisions successfully
  • Project management experience
  • Leadership experience, has managed a small team.
  • In market knowledge – understands and relates to sales and marketing terminology and key performance drivers
  • Proven track record of influencing at senior management level
  • Conceptual, problem solving/analytical skills
  • Good experience of relationship building


  • Proactive and insightful commercial analysis of business performance issues and opportunities. Drive resolution of issues and hold functions to account for follow through on actions that result in optimal business performance
  • Leading the pricing agenda for the business and using it as a strategic tool to drive growth
  • Providing investment appraisals on key capital expenditure projects and supporting the business initiatives to reduce costs sold through financial analysis.
  • Providing pre and post evaluations of sales and marketing activities, providing commercial insights on financial performance, reviewing brand profitability and providing financial analysis on innovations.
  • Delivering great project outcomes for business – robust, pragmatic analytics that support new opportunities for the business. Most projects require analytical models built from a wide range of internal and external data – all need clear, concise presentation and communication to stakeholders.
