A social entrepreneurship company with a mission to improve the socio-economic and environmental conditions of the low- and lower middle-income families in Ghana invites applications from suitably qualified persons to be appointed as COO (Chief Operation Officer) & HR Manager.

The company manufactures and distributes improved cook stoves and briquettes manufactured from saw dust and agricultural waste and quantifies the carbon emissions reduced by its projects to generate and verify carbon offsets, both CERs and VERs.

The successful applicant will provide leadership and technical support to the growth of the company and be responsible for directing the activities of the company to meet overall strategic goals and objectives.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing strong leadership in the management of the day-to-day operations of the business;
  • Cascading the organisation’s strategy/Mission statement and strategic operational plans to the staff and implementing appropriate reward/recognition, Coaching and corrective practices to align personnel with company goals;
  • Leading the sales team to grow sales and revenue of the company;
  • Providing leadership and direction for Production and Sales teams, setting an effective agenda and ensuring performance goals are met;
  • Analyzing financial statements, developing models, making financial projections, and express opinions on prospects for companies, industry and other financial instruments;
  • Maintaining an In-depth understanding of Market conditions, trends and overall economic outlook to lead the firm in its management decisions (Wholesale and Retail Alike);
  • Leading firm’s effort in expanding existing markets and entry into new market segments
  • Leading in the development or implementation of fund investment policies or strategies;
  • Securing partnerships with industry players and industry regulator;
  • Developing and administering operational and administrative policies, standards and practices and ensure compliance with requirements of relevant regulatory bodies;
  • Other assignments/target benchmarks as directed by management and/or board.

Key Requirements

  • Must have strong leadership skills
    •   Must have drive, presence and influence
    •   Must have strong skills in business development and excellent appreciation of financial reports
    •   Must have excellent appreciation of current trends in the renewable energy industry
    •   Must possess sharp business acumen
    •   Must demonstrate a high sense of courtesy, diligence, integrity and expertise in providing and ensuring high-quality customer relations
    •   Brilliant verbal and written communication skills in English (French is a plus)
    •   Must demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
    •   Must be smart and be able to work under intense pressure
    •   Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point etc.

Qualification Required & Experience

  • Minimum degree in Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or Management, Bachelor of Arts (BA) or related degree.
  • Minimum eight years of professional experience in management in a progressively increased managerial role.
    •   Previous experience with implementation of investors- and donor-funded projects.
