This role will lead the area communication committee under the direction of an assigned member of the Area Presidency. This committee manages area channels and supports the planning and execution of area and church-wide communication initiatives and campaigns.

This position will provide the following support:

  • Research and analysis of the quantity and sources of communication to all audiences, including technology usage, time constraints, and the communication environment.
  • Development and execution of a strong communication strategy.
  • Simplification of the flow of materials and information to leaders and members.
  • Provide the needed leadership to the area communication committee.
  • Build key relationships with opinion leaders.
  • Collaborate with the Area Legal Counsel on a strategic government relation plans to with emphasis on priority countries.


  • Serve as the communication interface and single point of accountability for the Area Presidency.
  • Assist the Area Presidency in creating and implementing the area communication strategy, in line with prophetic priorities.
  • Develop a high-level roadmap for strategic relationships with opinion leaders (government, religious, education, community, and media)
  • Consult on messaging, channels (including magazines), timing, and success measurement across the area and among all headquarter departments.
  • Drive regional audience identification and understanding and leads the creation of messages, content, and delivery for those specific audiences.
  • Develop core audience messages and research initiatives as a resource for area leaders and departments.
  • Oversee training and supports the calling of missionary couples and volunteer directors of communication at all levels (coordinating councils, stakes)
  • Support the operation of the Area Communication Committee
  • Support the operation of the Government Relations Council
  • Define the channel strategy for the Area.


Must be a member of the Church and worthy of a temple recommend.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication or related field
  • 7 years of professional-level experience. Master’s degree preferred.

Requires Skills Set:

  • Experience in developing, designing, and executing strategic communication plans.
  • Ability to understand the needs of a wide variety of audiences and communicate effectively to them.
  • Extensive experience with a wide variety of communication channels.
  • Strong understanding of public relations and relationship building.
  • Skilled at utilizing research methods and strategies to address practical problems.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas and processes in a simple way to leadership and communication teams at all levels.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and cross-team environment.
  • Have the needed experience and natural talent for Leadership and Management.
