Job Description

The multi-year Ghana Poultry Program (GPP) has been awarded to ACDI/VOCA by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) with a goal to increase the competitiveness of domestic production and processing of poultry meat and eggs. This increase is expected to expand end-market “pull” opportunities for maize and soya production, supporting USAID
Feed the Future objectives to raise income and employment for smallholder producers. GPP’s strategy is focused on catalyzing efficiencies at key stages of the poultry value chain in order to reduce Ghana’s dependence on imported poultry meat (currently estimated at over 90 percent of poultry meat consumption, improve profitability of egg production, expand national and regional trade and sustainably and equitably increase incomes of male and female producers in poultry, grains, and related value chains.


  • Work with poultry associations and other stakeholders of the poultry value chain to define organizational priorities and develop effective advocacy platforms.
  • Strengthen poultry associations to provide critical advocacy, promotional and technical advisory services to members.
  • Organize the producer groups and emphasize institutional performance, where individual organizations and agencies will clearly assess their complimentary roles in creating an investment environment that encourages competitive sector growth.
  • In conjunction with the Grant Specialist, will work with the associations to outline series of performance – based activities that will be paid according to set milestone.
  • Incorporates GPP gender mainstreaming and environmental management plans into daily operations.
  • Promotes GPP programs, facilitates successful coordination of activities; and ensures transparency.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, agriculture or social sciences.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience working in a multi-cultural environment, providing services to the private sector
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and judgment.
  • Proven willingness to make timely and sound decisions.
  • Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Advanced computer skills in a Windows based environment including Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions that require substantial interpretation of established policies and procedures, clear objectives, and business/professional standards.
