By Sera Kazungu
You feel so desperate in your job search that you could apply for any job that comes your way. Be it sales, cleaning, housekeeping etc, You send large numbers of applications every day and are online for most of the day scanning job opportunities.
Does this describe you partly or fully? If your answer is yes, it is time to change, stop dreaming and live in reality.
Below is a list of reasons why you should never apply for a job.
1. If it sounds too good to be true
That beautiful advert describing your dream job with all the attractive packages. The downside- it is from a company you have never even heard of. Chances are, the job is fake and you will be swindled out of some cash.
2. If your CV is disorganized
Your CV can’t get you the job or an interview, but it can certainly lose it for you. The CV is meant to advertise your skills to potential employers. If it is too long, too complicated , too messy or simply unreal, don’t bother applying for the job. Let’s face it, your CV will not even receive a second glance.
3. If you are counting on a miracle
The hustle is a struggle that takes a short or long time varying from person to person. The job seeker that needs a miracle is the one who posts their resume every day, does mass mailings of cover letters, and applies mindlessly for job after job just for the money/salary.
Are you that kind of a person who wants to apply immediately get hired, get promoted, receive a raise all in less than a month? Be kind to yourself,do not apply for the job. You will end up very frustrated and unproductive.
4. If you already have a good job
The salary matters and this is the most common reason why most people apply for new jobs. If the job you have is already giving you more than need, do not apply for a new job.
It could cost you a good job and you could find yourself out in the cold. Do not allow greed to take control of your career path. Be content with what you have.
5. If you lack the experience
Do not apply for a job if you do not have the experience to back you up. That job will never be yours. If you are an entry level job seeker, the best way to gain experience is to volunteer and intern in various companies. Do not just sit and wait for opportunities to find you.
Cheer up, you will land your dream job sooner than you think. All it takes is a little patience and persistence.
